[Mini Cheddars]

Hi all!

 

So I'm planning my first engine build, which will go into my only car so will be a daily driver. I travel about 20 miles up the motorway every day for work. Preliminary plans are:

 

Re-bore to 1293

Either 21253 from Minispares or Omega forged pistons from MED

1.3 rockers, possibly from MED

Kent 276 camshaft

Kent Cams duplex timing gear

Megajolt MAPS ignition

Re-ground and balanced crankshaft

Possibly a bit of flywheel lightening

Gearbox check-over and recondition by Guessworks (yet to contact him though)

Head? Pretty much undecided so far. May go MED, may go Minispares, may go Mini Sport, or may go elsewhere!

Will probably stick to 3.4 FD

I'm told it already has a central oil pick-up pipe, but I can't see the pipe that goes under the big gear

 

I'm probably forgetting something!

I would not bother buying forged pistons if its  a fast road build , unless you plan to be revving the guts out of it.

Maybe not revving it all the time, but for convoys to shows there may be times when I do.

Like I say, it's just a preliminary build plan at the moment. Subject to change!

For anyone interested, I'm selling a reconditioned 12G295 head in the For Sale section that I was going to put onto my daily, but that plan changed.
