Im a nut missing on one of me trackrod ends. Im trying to work out what the tread size is. Its the nut the connects to the steering arm not the rack. I've spoken to mini spares and they have said m10 x 1.25, but ive tried one and wont fit.

any thoughts?

the bit with the taper seems to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, if its original it could be 3/8 UNF IIRC. see if the thread looks the same as the wheel studs.

Just tried a wheel nut and wont go on. Measuring on a venier calipers the thread is spot on 10mm and over 3/8. They are the compertition ones so not sure if that's makes a difference.

1/2 unf if you mean the locknut on the rod rather than the taper pin.

or not....

count & measure the threaded part to work out the pitch.

It is the nut on the taper (nyloc type nut)

Hmm,  yeah, it should be M10 x 1.25. There's something not right (bur?) if you can't get a nut on. Got another metric nut you could try?

The stock ones were 3/8" UNF, but the Comp ones are Metric.

I have 2 rod ends and the nut from the other fits fine. I've tried m10 x 1.25 and 1.5, with no joy. The thread is very fine and the nut looks a lot coarser. I've ordered some m10 x 1.00 to see if they fit

I've had this issue. Cured by buying new trackrod ends.. They definetly vary between manufacturers

Hey mate, I hold you responsible here :D

I happened by chance to have a look at what I had in the draw yesterday, all the last one I bought were as you found - 10 x 1.00 mm, yet in the bottom of the draw, and I think they are a different manufacturer, they were 10 x 1.25 mm SmileyHammer.gif

The 2 I have came from mini spares and was them that initially said m10 x 1.25, so somewhere along the line either manfacturer has changed or they changed thread size. At least now ive got enough nuts to cater for what here is thrown at me.
