So do you work funny hours or do you get up reeaalllyyyyyy early in the morning to enable you to work on it first?

I find it bad enough getting up at 7 for work without thinking about working on the Mini first!

Because I work on a bus station, I work shifts so I have mixtures of earlys, middles and lates. If I'm on lates which I finish at 9pm I still get up around 7 or 8 and get as much done before starting work at 1pm. I also go to the gym after work so most nights not home till after 10 and then repeat the next day. Earlys I start work at 7 so always get home and get as much done as possible. Sometimes I'm still in the garage till 11pm then get up at 6 the next morning. I get two rest days a week but for the past couple of months my average working week time is probably close to 50 hours. In fact during the summer I wAs balancing my time between work, gym, car, playing baseball and spending time with the fiancé. I guess I don't like taking a rest haha.

How is work going ?

She must be very patient with you spending all of your spare time in the garage. i would never get away with that!

Work is going steady. I have a Mini to do tomorrow as it goes :-)

She is although if my rest days fall so I'm off all weekend I don't work on the car, and spend all the time with her. I think the fact that I cook for her might help and to be fair she's really supportive, even though she swears that she won't get in it because minis are embarrassing. She doesn't like my 205 because it's old but ah well she doesn't drive so she goes in what ever I say haha.

That's not bad with work then, is there much to do on it or is it not to bad ?

It used to have a sunroof but someone removed it and welded the hole up and then put about 1" of filler all over it which has now cracked up and looks a right mess.

So yeah, i think you can imagine what a pain that is going to be to rectify.

If the owner agrees, ill be posting up about it here as i want to start a Mill road blog in the projects section to showcase the work and to allow customers to keep an eye on the work being done.

Yeah I don't even want to know what the previous bodger was thinking. I know you will sort it and wouldn't be even able to tell its been repaired. If you start a blog I'd like to see it.

Thank you for reading. Engine wise I have a 998 A+ that I had bored out +40 it has a rally cam in it which I never had set up properly. Already has a lightened fly wheel and rally clutch plate with the uprated pressure plate. Going to run a single hif38. I've got two cylinder heads but both need some work, I'm probably going to go with the leaded head though and get the valve seats changed if it's not stupid money. And I'm undecided whether or not to rebuild the gearbox as standard or go with straight cut gears. Later on when I can afford it I'm probably going to stick a Quaife ATB in there. I have one in my 205 and I just love it.

So after just a few hours today the car now looks like a car. There is still a few panels that ad needed to put on but at least it now looks complete.

Rear quarter welded in

Waist rail welded in.

Then I thought I need to now see what I can do next before I have to get ready for work and well I decided to do this

I cut all the bracing out and so the car is now supporting its self completely and it looks so good. Next job is to clean up all the welds and then test fit rear valance panel and the closing panels. I then need to put in a piece to cover up the hole where the battery box went. After that it will be just little odd jobs to finish

Received a package today in the post and it is something I've been looking forward to getting.

After proceeding to open the package and checking it. I hurried into the garage.

After about 40minutes it was on

It's a 205 gti roof aerial which I thought would look right and suit my vision lol. I like long aerials that wobble about over every single bump.

That looks good...I always think a roof aerial sets a car off nicely
