6 coats  :ohno:

Haha yeah only because by the time I had done the drivers side that's what it was at lol. Plus wanted that extra safety net for rubbing down. I'm currently rubbing down and it's been good for the fact that I haven't gone through yet. Doors, bonnet and boot lid will get sensible amounts. How many layers of colour is the norm ?

What paint are you using?

2 pack. I wanted a good finish out of the gun and it to be strong. I know the safety concerns and about ventilation. I'm borrowing my mates mask for the job so I'm protected.

I would reconsider using 2k at home.

It can be very dangerous. I understand you using a mask but what about nearby people /animals etc?

You really need filtered extraction..

Garage is away from the house. Would only spray when neighbors aren't in the garden and dog will be kept inside and is the the only close enough animal. I have been keeping a track of how quickly the garage empties after using the primer and when I painted the roof. Also kept a track on if you can smell paint in the house or how far away from the garage you can smell it. I will reconsider though. Its just I already have the paint will see if they will take it back and exchange it for celly. If not is there a difference in how many coats you use between 2k and celly ?. I've done 4 on the roof but want to add another couple

The amount of coats depends on the colour. A darker colour will not cover a lighter primer as well as a lighter colour.

If coverage is good, then 3 coats of celly is sufficiant but that depends on the finish. if the paint needs a lot of flatting after, then you might need the extra paint thickness.

With 2k, 3 coats of base and 2-3 coats of lacquer is fine although as i said, the base depends on how well it covers.

Only got a few runs and stuff but nothing major it will want rubbing down and polishing any way so I was never to worried. Will be nice for me to think I've done it all.

Looks good, just a little advice from my experience, runs are difficult to sand and polish out, but the sooner you do it the easier it is because 2k goes off really hard. If you do have to repaint any areas don't try to blend it in as it shows after polishing, so in the case of that run if you do sand through repaint back panel up to seams it's much easier and just use a grey scotchbrite pad before over coating.
I found 2k very easy to use but as it takes longer to dry the area needs to be very clean but you are doing well,
