Polished up the reflective surface in the each of the bowls. Took this pic after I had only done the middle one.

Masked up the bowls and then painted them in satin black think they will look awesome once the car has been resprayed and will look kind of hidden but still visible. Going to be doing the same with the front light main rims and also something I'm not going to reveal quite yet as just wanting to be different

Needed to move the car forward into the garage to be able to work on the rear of the car with the garage door closed. Used old skate boards and wheels on the rear and a troll jack on the front then pulled it forwards.
Then set about removing the front subframe so had access to the bulk head and have checked it out and nothing more than surface rust.
When i get chance next week I have to remove steering column, steering rack, clocks, hand brake lever, gear stick. Then prep the floor ready to be cut completely out ready for the new panel to go in when I get paid next Week. Cannot wait for it to have a floor that doesn't have huge holes in it.

So in the past few days I've gone over the car and decided to tackle the bulkhead crossmember and decided and found out that the inner wings on both sides aren't worth repairing so ordered two new inner wings going to pick them up Friday hopefull. In the mean time I set about sorting the drivers side shock mount and end of the crossmember.
Obviously removed most of the inner wing and looked at how bad the end was which as you can see pretty bad
Cut out the rot replaced with fresh metal. Used some thick flat bar steel for the bottom mount holes and lip. Added an extension to the top mount holes for when coil overs are fitted for extra strength.
Replaced the end section and fabricated the closing panel. I zinc primed the inside of the crossmember and the back of the closing panel but will be putting waxoyl in there when finished anyway. Now just have the other side to do

Had to make up the flange on the bulk head as it was none existent and it's always better to have fresh metal to weld to so I'm quite pleased with my self as my fabrication skills are getting better

Only had to do a bit of trimming of bits back to get the panel to fit right.
It's going to look so much better once the other inner wing is in and then I can move on to the floor assembly. Not going to be able to get this welded in this week as away on holiday but the other side panel will be ready for me to pick up and I will get this one drilled and welded in when I'm back

Interesting that your inner wing came with the captive nuts for the fresh air vents..
Mine didn't.
Did it have the reinforcer behind the shock mount area?

Yeah it did which I thought was weird didn't think it was going too so now the end of the box section will have extra reinforcement. I'm hoping the passenger side will have it as well. It came with some other type of hooks on the inside too. I think it's one of the later ones.

Mine has all the holes for later models but was basically bare.
I had to weld up quite a few holes on it to match the original one.
I just thought it was weird as yours is the second one i have seen that has all the bits on where mine didn't..
Oh well.

That is weird I guess heritage just pick and choose what they are doing with panels. The bottom shock mount holes are out a tiny bit so will need filing out abit

What lovely characters they are. Love the way they hide little things that turn out to be big things. Ah well at least when they are finished it feels worth it till they start playing up again.
