I'm off work in a couple of weeks so will get the body, doors, boot and bonnet prepped for that week and will then get primer done first half of the week and colour the last half. I sorted my compressor out properly. This made painting easier. I was unsure about the checkered roof but after really thinking about it and properly looking at it. It's going to finish the car off nicely and not just be a plain old black roof. Plus it will hide the bits of rubbish in the paint

I'm sure I will manage to very soon. Need to be at the stage of just putting stuff back on to the car by middle of next month.

What have you got left to finish on your project ?

Yeah that is stage we are hoping to be on the sidewalk but other project and other peoples cars keep getting the way. We have just started a long term poorly pickup that didnt help

errm for the sidewalk we need to sort both doors, paint the underneath, then on top a dry build then prep and paint... loads yet.

update. i started the stripping of paint from my bottled only to be greeted by a rusty skin under the paint. cannot be bothered with replacing the skin and repairing the old frame so just ordered a new heritage one instead going to have to re skin the drivers door again as it's just poor. Wish I knew what I was doing when I did it. Feeling like I'm going a bit backwards and guess I'm going to be set back on buying something else for a bit but ah well its going to be worth it by the end hopefully

It's only replacing the door skin the door frame it's self I have repaired but as it was the first part of the car I had ever welded or did any work on it was shocking. Going to re finish the door frame and put a new skin on. I've bought a heritage bootlid with my TMF+ discount at mini spares it's £200 including next day delivery plus it will be just scuff up the E coat, high build primer quick run down and then colour so will be nice and easy

Fair enough to be honest wish i had done a hertiage skin on my sidewalk not happy with the pattern one. Might be getting itself changed. The idea with the boot lid makes sense and nice easy panel to have all sorted :)

So this is the state my drivers door is now in. I'm using the door skin I took off to make the new lip parts. Welding them on from both inside and out and have already got both corners on and went and picked up a new skin today. Hopefully by the end of tomorrow it will be back to having a skin on and be finished ready to prep for paint.

Think the doors will probably have quite a bit of filler on them but mainly on the inside which is ok

Got more updates.

Door frame repaired just needs a bit more grinding and then some cleaning up with a wire wheel then some rust converter followed by so zinc and then some stone chip around the frame lip.

Got a very nice box delivered today.

My brand new boot lid. Really impressed with it and will be nice to just scuff up and it be ready to paint. Decided to try my plates on it so I could see where I want it. I don't really want to drill holes in the boot but I will have to. The silver round the out side of the plates will be painted black and then have some of the rubber trim that goes between arches and the body around it so it won't scratch the paint.

I also won some twin carbs today I know I could get away with the single hif38 but I like the look of twin carbs and have always wanted to do it

All for now. Hopefully get the door finished Monday/Tuesday and then get them both ready for painting the week after.

Like this build alot!
Can you not just use the double sided foam tape for the number plate, saves having two new rust holes to appear

I am thinking about doing it that way to be fair. It is slightly raised but All I would have to is build it up in a few layers. In fact my daily cars number plate at the front is held on that way. I will need to find away of attaching it to the front like that.

Bit of an update

So I picked up my twin carbs

148392C4-5ED8-4B43-9668-6B036EAFB775_zps

Then set about modifying them slightly.

They just need new jets and spindles then all is good for them to go onto the car when finished.

Also got the exhaust hole cut out and shaped so the exhaust can be tucked up a little. A mixture of cutting, filing and hammering and you are left with this.

Next onto the next big step although I'm quite behind where I want to be but it will be done soon.

D06C449C-9073-426C-940E-A8CE16F6D0D8_zps

All body filler is done and rubbed down and all seam sealer is finished. After all of the I set about recovering the garage in dust sheets and I even did the floor for good measure. Hope people don't think I'm doing anything bad when I come out in my paint suit lol.

Next the car is now ready to be primed. Going to rub the car down first the re do some of the zinc primer and then get onto the hi build.

53C128DE-6463-49EC-A4BA-437C26021E19_zps

It's all masked up and ready to go.

All for now
