Made up some new spreader plates ready for the roll cage to go in
Also painted my grill. Just need to paint the back of it now in a few days once the red has dried a bit more
That's it going to put the cage in the car on Tuesday
All for now

So with the help of GT Jimmy and coffee in our system we set about fitting the roll cage into the car. I guess it wasn't to hard but considering I don't have the rear bins it makes life a lot easier. Only a small amount of paint was scratched but I shall fix it shortly.
Now all I have to do tomorrow is pull it all back out again to paint over the plates that are welded into the shell and clear out any bits of metal from drilling and fix the little bits of paint scuffs and then put it all back in again I'm just going to leave the front bars off so I can tilt the rear to fit the head lining easier. But to be honest now I just need to start getting the car ready for paint which I have a month till I next get paid.
It's all coming together nicely now and it's been worth the time already spent on it just a matter of finishing it now and getting it through it's MOT

If I may, can I ask where you got your cage from? And does it fit under the standard headlining?
Thanks for all and good rebuild!

I can't wait to see it finished either, just somethings are getting in the way like tidying up the house right now instead of working on the car.Hi, just wanted to say nice work on the rebuild, can't wait to see the end result!!! :-o

I got my cage from minispares with my TMF discount. Looking at the cage when it's in the car although I don't have the headlining fitted yet I will say that it's going to be a tight fit and I will have to loosen off the rear cage when I come to fit it. All the headliner bar holes are accessible when the cage is in place. But the headliner will be right against the roof panel once the rear is in place but then again you wouldn't not want the roll hoop right against the roof in the event of a roll.
Hope that answers your questions
Thank you for reading

Moving house at the moment and my minis are 170km away so I know the feeling of not being able to work on them.
Good luck with the tidying!

Thanks! Will keep watching to see if it fits and to see you finish.

Luckily I'm not moving but just doing a big tidy up before my mum and dad get back off holiday as a surprise. So today instead of pulling the cage out and putting it back I've just been able to get it out and paint the spreader plates. Really really want it finished now

Did your wire cup turn up?
Yes it did. It had fallen into a box under the car and then decided to hide under a piece of paper right in the corner 😡

I have been thinking recently and looking at other mirrors as the one I've got have been painted but I've done them badly and the cat knocked them off the window ledge and ruined the paint even more so I have been thinking of buying some others.
These are my options.
1.
2.
Will both cost me the same. The second ones I would re paint the red stripe on and the bullet ones I would just leave what is people opinions ?
