I've also decided that some parts of the interior metal will be showing body colour so I have taken all the paint back off the A pillars because they weren't smooth and repainted them properley. The waist rails and part of the B post will be seen so rubbed them down smooth and repainted them in colour. All of those bit will be rubbed down with some 1500 wet and dry then clear coated tomorrow it's my day off today but wanted to chill out for a change.
I recieved my steering wheel that I bought off fellow tmf member Morley yesterday along with my boss and quick release. Boss and quick release were off eBay and cost £60 altogether.
At least no the steering wheel will be closer to me so my arms won't be so stretched out.
I went out for a trip with my grandma today after having a conversation with her a few days ago with her helping me to make a headliner. She was a professional machinist working with leather and is still doing lots of different types of clothing also made a new cover for a motorcycle seat ( like you do ) she is now 76. Anyway went out to the local fabric shop which were very helpful and bought some leatherette 3.5m X 1.5m £13.39. Showed her my old lining which she now has and discussed what I wanted and it didn't even phase her one bit. Looking forward to seeing it. Also have enough left to cover the dash rails, B posts, C posts, under the rear window and a piece for the parcel shelf.
Now if payday can just hurry up so I can get cage ordered it would be great
All for now

Engine was rebuilt not long before I stopped driving it.Hej James, a great read every page of this build thread, what engine mods are you doing if any?
998cc +40 to make it 1030cc ish. 510 or 948 mini sport cam cannot remember been a long time. Lightened flywheel with uprated pressure plate. Balance crank and Pistons/con rods
Going to get new valves for one of the heads plus might get it converted to unleaded. Going to work the head slightly to tidy up the chambers. Other things may get done but got to strip engine down again to rebuild gearbox and check bearings anyway
Hif38 carb with some modifications as of vizards yellow book

We all need a grandma like yours. If you need an extra pair of hands to fit the headlining give me a shout, meant to be a pig of a job

When I come to fit it I shall give you a shout. The car will have been painted by then as well so you will be the first person to see it.

Whole of the passenger side back to bare metal.
Covered in kurust because ran out of time to cover the welds with filler and because I wanted it to be run into all the seams. Also I've done it every time I've taken it back to bare metal so why stop now. Will get on with the filler and get it in primer soon. Also started to fill the front scuttle joints as well.
So glad that I only have to clean up a small part of the underside of the boot floor and then cover it in kurust use some seam sealer in a few places then cover it in some zinc primer and stone chip it.
Then starts the fun of trying to work out how I'm going to stonechip the underside of the main floor as I can't roll the car over might just get a small roller from a pound shop and do it that way.

Spent all my time last night after work chiselling away the old under seal of the boot floor. Then cleaning it up of any surface rust which wasn't a lot then covered it in kurust.
Think I got a bit dirty
Then this morning before work which was about 7:30 I got into the garage to give all the parts there was surface rust a good thick coat of zinc primer.
Will paint stone chip on it over the weekend and then seam seal all the joints then under seal the whole thing as there won't be any welding to do on the boot floor as its complete.
All for now

Looks grey but it is black. Will be getting a good couple of coats of underseal after the cage is in.
Going to order that this week so on my week off can get it in and finish the floor painting off

That will be good for us to read through and get stressed while fitting it. Going to need a good few brews the day that will be going in.

Bought some more rollers from the pound shop and got to doing the stone chip under the wings, engine bay and toe board.
Although the car will be grey I am going to keep the engine bay black so it matches the internal floor and the boot. once all of the stone chip is done I will move onto sealing everything up with vast amounts of sealer going to make it difficult for water to get in.
Also recieved my cage yesterday so when I'm off next week it will be going into the car. Getting excited now as that will mean apart from carpet, head lining, covering the dash the interior is complete and then can start on the paint prep
