Rob Mac there wasn't a warranty with it to me but i was told it was a really good engine that would run really well but clearly not unfortunately. There were no instructions other than it will drop in fine.

Check out the prices of parts on minispares site. Then add £5 to join tmf+ and reduce costs by 7.5%!

When did you buy it?
You maybe covered by the sale of goods act if the person in question was acting as a business. There may also be action under EU Consumer contracts law.

I purchased the engine on 14th February (2 weeks ago) and it was sold as a good strong engine producing 68bhp. I'm not directly after a refund from the seller at the moment but I'm more interested in the warranty supplied by the garage who did the initial work to the engine which included a new timing chain and splitting the engine gearbox to replace the half moon seal which was only done less than 1000 miles ago in April 2014 so I believe. When did you buy it?

This is an easy to understand guide of the legislation:

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.
N.B.
I am not providing advice and forego any responsibility for loss incurred from any reliance made upon representations/statements. I can suggest to you a course of action, with more insight than a non-legally trained individual, but it is just that, a suggestion.

A warranty would be extra to you statutory rights. The engine still has to be fit for the purpose it was described and sold for. It's reasonable to expect a refurbished engine to last more than 2 weeks of reasonable use.
By all means take that up with the supplier, but you'll need to decide what route to take if they aren't receptive to that idea....
It would help to have it stripped and checked by an independent "expert" who can give an opinion on whether it failed because it wasn't properly refurbished, if it was at all. Even if they say it was supplied faulty, you then have the problem of getting reimbursed.
Since time is money, the cheapest option is likely to be to do as much yourself as you can; then give a machine shop straight forward instructions - if you need new shells, then the most straight forward route is to commit to going the next size rather than spend time with a micrometer/dial gauge to reach the same conclusion.

I unfortunately don't, I always provide one as the seller but completely forgot about doing one being the buyer which isn't an excuse I should of got one. I've got plenty of messages stating the engine spec and how strong it is and will last for ages. No its not a trader just another member whose not been online since his sent his last message on friday.
