Can anyone help i have been trying to fit the binnacle and steering column on a 1975 Clubman. The first problem I encountered was the top casing of the steering column is clashing with the underside of the binnacle, has anyone ever had this issue before.

Whilst trying to sort this I have now managed to somehow look the steering wheel lock and wont seem to unlock with an persuasion. Would I need to have all the electrics connected to release the lock as I have just pulled everything apart.

Any help would be much appreciated.

All I can add is you do not need the electrics connected.

I think i have tracked it down to a worn key/barrel. Could someone help on what parts I need to buy to get this working again.

It's non serviceable, you need to replace the complete steering lock.

Looks like you have the earlier type of steering lock, where the lock barrel sits at 90 degrees to the column. Your car must have been one of the last of this type in 1975 as by 1976 the steering locks were different.

This earlier lock is not so easy to get replacements for.

May be worth finding a good locksmith and seeing if they can do anything with your existing lock?
