Today went well! Had some help which is rare :)

20160508_125659_zpslq6sliqq.jpg

Also got the arch in!

20160508_171115_zpssgabpks9.jpg

Shortly before hacking chunks out of it again because the arches are getting tubbed.

20160508_172818_zps5wakxoxo.jpg

Had to stop at this stage because my sheet of steel was a few cm to short to make the new section of arch for the tubbing.

I have ordered a longer piece of steel so depending on work I will attempt to get the new section in next weekend.

I can imagine! Drum brakes, seat backs and the like getting in the way. The way I'm looking at it is if the shell is rust free when I finish the car I will have sealed the hell out of everything, waxoyled everything and pored engine oil down all of the seams from the inside. As well as living in a garage and rarely being driven in wet conditions. Should be fine for years before any body work needs doing. Unless I end up putting it in a wall, but I endeavour to avoid that :)

Got a little bit done last weekend, pretty much completed the arch tubbing, but was zombified because I worked till about 2 in the morning the previous day. Just need to tack the rear quarter onto it and weld the rear bulkhead onto the arch then its the rear bumper lip section of the boot floor.

I finished off the arch and started on the boot floor

Unfortunately I have to re build the rear panel lip

Rust.  the enemy of all wee minis!

What are you rust proofing it with?

Have a look at Epoxy Primers as they seam to be the best thing at the moment.

Cheers will do. I have no painting experience at all so would I need to get a spray gun for this?

I may also be getting another mini as well which makes no financial sense at all... I have a problem

Some of the epoxy primers are brush, roller or thin and spray.  I'm using one called jotamastic 87 and I've only sprayed it so far.  Was a bit orange peely so might neet a bit more thinners.

It goes on aluminium so I'm hoping to try it on my engine with 2K gloss silver on top.

Had 4 days off work and I had assistance on 3 of those so the rear panel flange got fully rebuilt and the rear of the boot floor is fully in and the other arch is mostly out!!! So many pictures.

I will be grinding down the edges of the floor and rear panel and seam welding them and the bumper holes to prevent future water ingress as well.

Good news! I have bought another mini! Not to sure what its called yet but I think its female. It will also be getting Kelvins rebuilt 1275. Unfortunately driving back from Nottingham was terrifying because the brakes were awful but that will be rectified this week with a disk conversion.

Anyhow I have finished patching the boot floor and welding in the arch. Tomorrow I will start off tubbing the new arch.

After getting the other mini I have had quite a bit to sort. Now pretty much finished apart from the future engine transplant and looks like this :)

20160714_140242_zpsufgcn14k.jpg

Due to that I haven't done any work to Kelvin until this weekend. I took out the arch closing panel, braced the rear seat base to the exhaust tunnel, made some modifications to my rear jig whatsit and removed the heelboard which was terrifying :)

Before welding in the new one I want to sort out the holes in front of the rear arches.

Only been doing the occasional bits of work the last few months, in honesty haven't touched it since jan. Broke my phone so lost most of the pics I had taken anyway.

got back on it last weekend and part of the floor is in finally!!!

Over Easter I will be smashing it  because I kind of feel guilty for avoiding an alignment problem with the healboard for so long. All sorted now but was just one of those things that I was dreading doing.

forgot how therapeutic welding is :)

Did a bit yesterday, the reac companion bin area is finished except for a bit of tidying up. Tomorrow the front of the floor might go in or possibly start on the A pillar finally.
