With the floor tacked in place I've started work on the door step.

WP_20170503_12_28_37_Rich_zpsjglu8nz8.jp

I chopped the centre section of the step out so I could line up the jack bracket with the sill and got that welded in place

WP_20170503_12_28_24_Rich_zps9tk34wn2.jp

WP_20170503_12_28_31_Rich_zpswmuio3w9.jp

I got the rest of the opening cleaned up

WP_20170503_16_11_39_Rich_zpsl5glckeu.jp

Annoyingly I don't have the A-Panel for this side, so will need to wait for that until I can get it properly welded up :(

Crackign on with this now... I prepped the door step panel:

WP_20170503_16_11_30_Rich_zpsjtg2ea4s.jp

and after lots of fiddling, tweaking and swearing, I got the hinge and door step panels lined up and spot welded together:

WP_20170505_10_57_26_Rich_zpskxws96pt.jp

I added these two spot welds to the check strap thingy. I didn't do this on the other side... Will have to check that!

WP_20170505_10_57_38_Rich_zps32g7tzju.jp

It took AGES to get some half decent door gaps. The front is fine, but the rear doesn't match the other side, so will have to sort that when I replace the door skins

WP_20170505_12_16_40_Rich_zpsuccbntej.jp

WP_20170505_12_16_45_Rich_zpso2qbyyx6.jp

Once I was happy with the gaps I spot welded it all in, but not at the rear as I still have to slide the rear strengthening bracket in

WP_20170505_15_43_13_Rich_zpsx7qk0oui.jp

Will have to sort the big gap out...

WP_20170505_15_43_34_Rich_zps7uleew9h.jp

The gap at the back was tight, so welded that in and gave it a tickle with the grinder

WP_20170505_15_43_22_Rich_zpsvnjomgqt.jp

WP_20170505_15_43_29_Rich_zpsddbfvhvo.jp

Also welded on the rear sling bolt bracket

WP_20170505_15_44_00_Rich_zps7nmjd471.jp

Annoyingly couldn't do the front one as I hadn't stripped the paint back on the floor panel!

After that I got cracking with removing the rear wheel arch:

WP_20170505_15_42_59_Rich_zpsxxiu6pvk.jp

WP_20170505_15_43_45_Rich_zpslqnwpjnz.jp

Still have the flanges to tidy up, and remove the seatbelt bracket

WP_20170505_15_44_13_Rich_zpstaqrjc6i.jp

WP_20170505_15_44_21_Rich_zpsvkl9yh3k.jp

Quite enough for one day I think!!

Not much done today, just cracking on with fidly jobs. Got more of the halves welded together:

WP_20170506_16_02_59_Rich_zpszayprzty.jp

Added the front handbrake bracket (will tidy it up)

WP_20170506_16_03_03_Rich_zps5k49cjkw.jp

I popped the carpet back in as I wanted to check the position of the seat bracket and the holes for the seatbelts

WP_20170506_19_23_24_Rich_zpsqfi4xpdv.jp

WP_20170506_19_23_38_Rich_zpsiepqvwfv.jp

Obviously I also just sat in it pretending it was all finished

Phew! At least I'm not jsut shouting into the abyss...

Anyway, a little more done today. I was up at 5:30 with the dog, so quite tired

WP_20170507_18_12_11_Rich_zpsfs6tpacq.jp

Tidied up the handbrake bracket, needs a little more sanding (I welded up a nick in the side from the cutting disc)

After careful measuring against the old floor (I kept the tunnel bit) I cut the holes for the seatbelt mount using my step cutter (14mm FYI)

WP_20170507_12_30_16_Rich_zpsim90q3ye.jp

Then I welded on the extra bracket. It stops the MPI seatbelt anchors from rotating backwards too far (not sure if this was a safety requirement?)

WP_20170507_18_12_05_Rich_zpsawgegpow.jp

I carried on with welding the rest of the tunnel join. Annoyingly my grinder can't get under here, will need to invest in a dremmel!

WP_20170507_18_12_19_Rich_zpsgvu07rnl.jp

Then had a bit of a tidy up as it was getting quite messy in my 'work' area

WP_20170507_18_26_06_Rich_zpsgxksxlxy.jp

Then I prepped the wheel arch, ready to go in tomorrow (hopefully)

WP_20170507_19_01_28_Rich_zps7uhr6pfc.jp

Slightly more done now... I am getting pretty tired of all this, but there we go.

Anyway, prepped the arch section ready for the new arch to go in:

WP_20170511_07_47_58_Rich_zps4uudzadr.jp

Plug welded the seatbelt anchor and drilled the holes to plug weld to the bracket in the boot:

WP_20170511_07_48_16_Rich_zpsiafbnjbt.jp

WP_20170511_07_48_07_Rich_zpsiw7mezuh.jp

Also prepped the original arch/floor bracket:

WP_20170511_07_48_28_Rich_zpsbgbtc0gm.jp

Then set about welding the sucker in!

WP_20170511_09_19_51_Rich_zpsvcyva7da.jp

WP_20170511_09_20_10_Rich_zpsuxnexy4f.jp

WP_20170511_09_20_23_Rich_zpsatecope5.jp

Just need the companion bin now, which I'll have to wait for as Minispares have none in stock :(

I'm quietly watching as well, Jim! Mainly out of fear of doing some of this myself and wondering if i've done any of it right! lol

Out of curiosity, what zinc primer are you using on the panels?
