Its time to say goodbye to the lockup! Car has bene here nearly two years. Never thought it would be there that long, but thats life.

Final pics before my first journey:

 

 

 

 

 

Then got stuck in traffic on the journey home

 

 

 

Oil pressure and voltage looked good (no idea why voltage was steamed up)

Then back home with the rest of the crew!

 

 

Drive went well, no major issues. Fan came on as expected in traffic. Brakes still need bedding in and the stickers etc need to go back on, but its taxed, MOT'd and insured!

As the car is back home I thought it was time to give it its first wash in 6 years!

 

 

 

 

I've been lucky with new parts being of ok quality (I've heard stories of rubber parts failing before the car has even mo9ved, but wasn't expecting the strap to break so quickly!

 

Not sure if I had another, will look for it.

 

As the car was clean, I stuck the Cooper S stickers on:

 

 

 

Then I took it for a 250 mile round trip to my parents house in Essex and back. Took my dad out for a drive and a slap up meal

 

 

 

At my parents I raised the rear suspension slightly as it was rubbing on speed bumps with passengers in.

I managed to get an impressive 50mpg on the motorway (doing 70), so pretty chuffed with that!

Projects are never truly finished...

 

Today's task was getting the side stripes back on. Went better than I expected!
