Next job will be to put some fluid back in the car... Will start with bleeding the clutch, then I can put the brake server on

TIny bit of progress today. It was hammering it down, so not the most enjoyable of times spent in the lockup...

My dad came down with me so he helped bleed the clutch:

cI7L37X.jpg

8pUb3Um.jpg

Nl9a4xR.jpg

The pin isn't in the clutch pedal arm yet, so it doesn't feel perfect, but it is working.

I tried putting on a new nearside spot lamp bracket, but whoever made it didn't line it up properly! This will have to go back to Minispares:

ooLrBBF.jpg

I then got under the car with my UV light to try and track down the source of my oil leak (I had put some UV die in recently). The camera makes it look all purple, but it was clear to see that its weeping form the side cover, so that will have to come off :

OXcyqgR.jpg

That's it for today!

Blimy, not updated this for a while! Divorce and moving house got in the way. ALso spent a week driving around Scotland in the R50. Didn't have a single problem, very happy with it!

Back to the Mini. Here is where I last left it:

nYTFeAb.jpg

I had managed to strip the threads off the brake pedal box, so the servo bracket wouldn't stay on:

7x1bNVN.jpg

LZwEl89.jpg

So i set about grinding the old bolts out, and welding new ones on:

radAxTz.jpg

p8VEALC.jpg

iKJOwLa.jpg

nlw7hSd.jpg

Then got it fitted to the car:

BNOZZWz.jpg

AYAtwCv.jpg

This is where I ran into more problems.... The brake pedal wouldn't return! When the servo was powder coated, I didn't sand back the coating by where the plunger goes in, so it was sticking. I tried taking it apart and.... BANG. Snapped he bloody plunger

k0vg7hr.jpg

1XWUKWd.jpg

Will have to source a second hand one to get that part

Glad you're back at it mate.

This thread has been really helpful for me rebuilding my mpi.

I have the servo which came off my car if you need? Just pay the postage...

The relays that are fastened to the bulk head behind the dash did you relocate them or is that standard on an MPI?

Your sound proofing is in the same state as mine. I wondered if it was possible to recreate it using something more durable but effective.

Yeah I was hoping there was something else to use, but its something that I can change later (just want the car done!)

Relays are standard for the MPI, although have seen them on the other side in other cars

James, I think you might have routed the wiring incorrectly, not 100% sure, but I can't see you being able to push the car stereo in with all those cables there.

I think there is enough room, but it doesn't matter as the car stereo I have now is one of the half size ones (not a CD player) :)

Got some more bits done. I managed to break the end of the fanbelt cover, so 3D printed a section to repair it:

jQme3Vj.jpg

then fitted

nw4UM85.jpg

Got the passenger door handle and window in:

dAPNdWr.jpg

Got a lot to do under here.... Driveshaft need to come out to replace the diff cover gasket:

Z8c5R97.jpg

vLiCw3E.jpg

Drained the oil ready. It's an odd colour as I added UV die to see where the leak was
