Are you going back to plastic spat wheel arches ? isn't yours a proper cooper ? shouldn't it have the sportspack ?

It's a proper Cooper 'S', just not a Sports pack Cooper ;)

Finally happy with the door gaps on the drivers side. Lots of detailed work done on it today. Started with this:
I wanted gaps like this:
But that meant I had to cut the top of the door frame to open it out a bit...
Ended up looking a lot squarer:
It's a bit difficult to see in the photos, but much better. Also talked the front edge of the door:
If anyone is worried, the door is slightly high compared to the catch on the body to take into account the eventual weight of the door glass, winder etc
I then finally drilled a hole for the door grommets:
Pretty happy with how they turned out! No idea why I was so worried.
Next job is to fix a small gap in the rear valance closing panel, then turn the shell around to finish the other door.

Does the glass still fit ok with opening up the top of the frame?
I'm just going to assume it will ;)

Right more done today. Got the small hole in the rear valanced sorted out:
Looks good to me.
Next up was the other door. The frame was already stripped. I've not prepped it properly yet, but stuck the hinges back on, bolted it to the shell and clamped the new skin on just to see how it looks.
Pretty much perfect!
Very happy I don't have to do as much surgery as the first side...

Where/what did you get the grommets from if you don't mind me asking - been after something suitable for years but not got around to sourcing something!

It's actually a boot grommet for a golf:
