on a side note, I like to listen to podcasts when I'm working on the car and I use a Bluetooth speaker to connect to my phone
This Nokia speaker is great!

Do your motors actually move? I'm sure mine don't as i've tried moving the headlights up and down and there's no difference. They make a lot of noise constantly though. hmm... might start up a separate thread about this!

Well I finally got around to fitting the new grille, surrounds and spot light after being reversed into, looks pretty nice to me!

I got reversed into again! At least both the front spot lights are shiny and new...

Not updated this for a while, so here we go!

Dear god this is taking ages!
Got most of the car stripped down

Continuing with the strip down:
I then welded some brace bars in before I take out the floor:
Then got busy with the angle grinder!

Looks like ur doiing fine job on the floor good luck with it!

So after poking around with a screwdriver at the back of the car turns out the boot is toast. I could patch it up, but it would only be a small amount of extra work to replace the whole thing, so I bought a heritage boot floor valance etc. and started to prep them:
Annoyingly the heritage panels don't have any of the tags on their panels, even the ones that are essential like the battery nut/cage on the boot. So I spot weld drilled the old one out:
Cleaned it up:
And welded it back on:
I used the extra long arms on my spot welder:
I also added the tags:
They were all lined up to the small square indentations on the new panel, except the last one under the RH light cluster, that was slight over to the left to match the tag on my old floor
I also removed the long strengthening strip from the old seat base. Again another part that's not on the new panels...
Seat base was a bit of a mess...
I used the old panel as a template to re-drill the holes for the STS wiring harness that clips under the rear seat. Just waiting for a 25mm drill to do the 4 big holes in the above picture:

Haha! Brilliant. You show a pretty empty looking garage then all of a sudden the car's stripped, you're chopping out panels and whip out a spot-welder! lol.
We're doing the same with a 98 MPI at the minute which is a lot further gone than yours, it's really testing our patience. Good luck!

I wish the garage was empty, its a pretty tight squeeze! All of the car is pretty much in the loft...
