yup. I think if I spend a few days on the main shell its prep for paint time... eeek!
Jobs still needed to be doen are both door skins and adjust the fron bonnet. For some reason the passenger side sits too low, so the curve of the bonnet is lower than the wing. I cant see why its like that, but lookgin at old pictures of the car (before any work was ever done on it) the problem is there. It either the inner wing or the bonnet itself. I'll just slice the front edge of the bonnet and open it up to raise the front. The bonnet trim will cover my dodogy welding :)

tiny update. Work went mental so not had much time in the garage.
The accelerator cable had at some point 10 years ago snapped in Cornwall, and the bodge the AA man used to get me going was still there! The old cable was stuck fast, and the outer tube was spinning, so stuck a blob of weld on and drilled the old cable out:
All cleaned up and ready to go!

More little updates today. It's all annoying fiddly details now. I wish I had replaced the inner wing entirely as I would have been done by now!
The inner wing at the top was all rough with welds from fixing the flange, so ground them down and put some filler on:
Then sorted some bits on the passenger side wing:
I used the hammer and dolly to smooth out the drivers side wing down the bottom where I had folded it away years ago to do something;
Came up ok. Might put a bit of filler on the engine bay side
Then added some filler to smooth out the sills and floor:
and began sanding down the drivers inner wing:
Ran out of sandpaper so need to pop out to get some more

Never seem to have much time to work on this blooming car!
Anyway, got some bits done today. Sanded down some of the filler on the sills:
Sanding down is quite hard...
Got bored of that and sorted the gear selector housing. I replaced the bushes front and back and got it all fitted up. Still need a few new nuts and cotton reels to finish it off, but mostly there:

Another tiny update. Thought I'd do a before/after of the inner front wing:
Better but will never be 100% happy with it...
Also did some more on teh offside wing inside the engine bay:
I need to start getting quotes now to get the thing sprayed. Don't think I can safely do it at home, even though I really want to

Not much to repport. Managed to get the bearings out form the upper arms. I had to use a bearing puller, but instead of using the hammer bit, I used a punch form teh other side to knock the bearings out!

In my aim to do a little everyday, I'm turngin back to teh sound panels for the floor. I wanted them to be the same as factory, so have made up templates for them. Only way to test was to print them out on A4 and stitch them together...
Will do the rest and then get some proper material to do it on
It needs a bit of adjusting, but getting there!

Finished off doing the templates for the floor panels:
Then I scanned the old sticker that was on the back of the diff housing (it was covered in dirt!) and made a new one up in Illustrator. I've printed it off on a waterproof vinyl paper, and I'll do the rest of the visible labels this way too.

Some more today. I decided to sort out some of the annoying little jobs that I've been putting off:
Small hole in the floor welded up:
Last of the spot welding on the rear valance:
Plug welded the slinging bracket down:
Got some filler on the inner wing:
Sport welded the inner wing flange and cleaned up the sill/wing edge:
Ground down some of the plug welds:
Then I made a start on the welds inside the wing/front panel. Not quite sure what they are supposed to look like:
And I think the floor is FINNALY done:
Just need to add the studs, which I'm hoping to get done this week. As soon as they are on and I've sanded down all the filler, I'll take the car off the spit and get the doors and bonnet sorted, then its ready for paint...

thanks. I imagine it would have done. What are the labels like on your loom? I'm going to recreate all the ones you can see in the engine bay and boot but mine are too faded to copy. If your writing is still eldable, can you take some close up pics? I'll send a copy in the post to you ;)
I'm 'almost' ready to make the sound deadening panels too if you are still after a copy?
