OK, time to finish stripping the gearbox. Had a few issues getting the bearings off various bits, but with some FB hlpe, I got there in the end. Here's some pretty pictures:
and then...
Finally got the spit built. It's not balanced yet, needs to go higher, but getting there.

Ok, update time. Been unable to work on the car as I've been at F1 HQ in Biggin Hill for the last two weeks.
Anywhoo, got my replated parts back form teh platers. much happier with the result:
I finally got the spit working. The instructions weren't great, but I finally figured it out!
Annoyingly the floor is bent from where I put it on my home made dolly. You can't quite see it in the pics, but its been pushed up. I think I've figured a way to sort it and will test sometime this week.
I also bashed the sill in too far, so will try the same trick with that
Now it's properly on its side I can see the underside of the floor join and get that cleaned up. Not fitting the full floor has added days and days to the build
I started cleaning up the heel board welds:
That'll do for today!

And tell me more about your job in F1
I'm the news editor, I take the live feed and cut it down to 5mins as soon as the race is finished. I get paid to watch my favourite sport!
