Hi Steve,

What did you do for the exhaust heat shield? I've just had my new floor fitted. I need to get the extra studs added for the fuel pipe clips. The original Mpi floor also had the studs for the plastic nuts that held the two sections of heat shield on. My original heat shield is completely shot and obviously they are not available any more. I can't remember what you did with yours? Is there maybe a self adhesive alternative? Its not worth having the studs welded on if I'm not reusing the original shield.

Thanks,

Ben

Mine is adhesive.

Thanks Steve. Do you know what stuff you used?

The time has come to get the car ready for Bingley! I started making a list that is constantly getting longer by the day!

First off is to get the spare wheel and boot cleaned up. The wheel itself was covered in remnance of the melted bitumin tile that melted from the fuel leak before the car was taken off the road. Petrol on a rag and some patience, it eventually all came off. Wheel was polished, waxed and the wheel dressed. The boot itself was all polished and sealed. All plastics dressed with 303.

Next was the engine bay. This was liberally soaked in Auto Finesse Citrus Power, agitated and rinced off. Next was APC, agitated and rinced off. All dried off with the airline and then dressed with 303 and autoglym rubber and vinyl care.

Underside of the bonnet was machine polished with Meguiars 205 then sealed with Auto Finesse Tough Coat.

Worked on the glass a little, still loads to do though! Needs a full wash then the machine polishing can begin!!

So carrying on with the bingley prep, I got the car degreased all over with Auto Finesse Citrus, worked in and left to soak then out came the snow foam!

By2CRF0.jpg

I got it washed and indoors to dry off and started off with cleaning inside of each wheel arch.

Ebea31O.jpg

Cleaned and dressed the wheels

OOz47Jh.jpg

then the 2 days of machine polishing began! O_O I used a DA6 with a combination of 6" and 4" hexlogic white and green pads as well as Meguairs 205.

All the bodywork was then treated to 2 coats of Auto Finesse Tough Coat and Glass cleaner. Tomorrow I can hopefully finish the interior then give it a deep clean!
