V nice. Your door gaps are also excellent.

One question about your grill, will the small screws that hold on the left/right surrounds scratch the paintwork..? When I added my rivets there doesn't seem to be enough clearance behind the grill for the screw to sit?

Q

Thanks! It will have to go up as it won't get on a dyno being this low. Once it's all set up, it should be this low again if it doesn't rub.

Looking good Steve! Can't wait to see it up and running. I love how it's retaining an almost OEM look, despite all the special bits!

In your research, did you come across any full kits for fitting a Turbo to an MPI? I've seen the same sort of thing for Superchargers (Vmaxscart) but never seen an MPI specific 'off the shelf' kit for Turbocharging.

Thanks chap! There is literally nothing out there for these blocks.

Sounds like you need to go into business with your own conversion! ;D

Lol if it weren't for the limited production run and my spare time being used up, don't think it's worth it! I'm pretty sure anyone looking at my thread could do the same thing though.

Q,

So had a look, and the screw ends that hold the hockey sticks in are so short they don't get anywhere near the paintwork! Gave it a mock up and now I can't stop looking at it!

Also fit the turbo, the oil return took an hour to tighten up as I could only do a bit at a time because of the room :( and my arm ached!

Love the quality of this build

.... though i'm still a little worried about some of the earlier pics showing turbo bits made out of cardboard, not sure they're going top be up to the job :P

Steve: have you got a back-up vent set-up for the oil catch tank?  As we both know MPIs are not supposed to vent oil fumes to air, so if you get a really scrupulous MOT tester!

Hi,

I could see no mention of testing breathers in the mot testers manual?

Cheers  :proud:

My pipes are being done by Fusion Fabrications, Matt wouldn't let me use card... spoil sport.

My catch can is hidden in the inner wing, you can't see if it vents to atmosphere or not. If they get pissy, then it's not hard to feed it into the inlet.

Cheers  :proud:

Emission systems don't seem to be mentioned for petrol cars in the manual.

Some testers can get a little fractious when faced with a modified system venting to the atmosphere & start talking about emission of air quality pollutants (regulated by Euro emissions standards etc etc).... & lets face it who wants to upset a MOT tester at such a critical time.

NB; A fluid leak that creates a pool on the floor within 5 minutes that's more than 75mm in diameter constitutes a failure -luckily that only applies to the vehicle & not the owner!

Hi,

First thing to do is refer them to the manual, that's what it's for.

The manual is to make sure your vehicle is fairly tested, not what the tester thinks is correct but what is correct.

Imagine you took a 1970 mini for test and it failed for no fog light. Would you fit lamp, switch and wiring or turn round to the tester and say they don't need one at this age?

Cheers  :proud:
