In terms of the pulley, could try a different pump. Ive had pumps where the mating flange is a different offset,  to the one I've take off, where its not been pushed as far / or further onto the shaft.

Looking great though, one thing I've spotted in the last pic is the arch looks a little low for the side repeater compared to some sportspacks (just looked at mine)

Bet you can't wait for paint, such a good feeling building a freshly painted shell up

Hi Midas,

I believe this is a KAD issue, the standard pulley fits perfectly and aligns with the belt.

Regarding the arch - i've measured it up against a mate's 500 and its bang on, it is often thrown by the fact they don't have the rubber seals on.

Just read this. Amazing work. Soon be on the road 😜
I noticed you cleaned some of your loom wires in a liquid. What was the liquid since I need to clean mine up whilst its out.

A nice chunky update! Riding a roller coaster of emotions with this car at the moment as you'll see!

More bits in a deox bucket then sprayed

Wok build up

Seatbelt bracket welded on

One side of the engine almost complete!

Meanwhile, on the other side - Flywheel housing blasted and painted up. Decided to change the oil pump from a standard unit to a KAD updated unit.

No real pictures of trying to fit the flywheel housing after that, was hoping to do them after it was done. However, due to not planning it properly and making sure it was straight all the way, the primary gear bearing caught on the outer race in the housing. A few slight turns of the socket and a loud bang. Pulled it all apart and found the inevitable.

So.. off to minispares tomorrow to get a new bearing (£23 :( ) as well gasket and C clip. I might get the most of it done by the weekend, but standby for that!!

Hi Matt,

Yeh! Theyve been great! However theyve pulled doing gunmetal as theyre not happy with the finish. Still not sure what colour to have them. Thinking silver as never been a fan of their gold colour.

Have you fit the wheel bearing races (can’t see in the pics properly)? If so, have you made good note of which inner goes with which outer race?

Hi Graeme,
Races arent fit yet, they are currently paired up with the respective bearing and cable tied together. Waiting on bearing grease at the moment!

Great work! whats the bearing thats cracked for? I'm pretty sure I've removed one in the past but can't think what it's for.

Didn’t think you’d make that mistake, but in the photos the reflection on the paint looks like the edge of the races!

Moving on from last time, trial fit the engine into the engine bay and subframe to allow the rear gearbox steadies to be drilled.

Turbo fits... just! Manifold didn't :( Managed to get hold of an MG inlet to solve this.

As i've got to the end of my confidence with the bodywork and moved the shell onto Sleaford Mini Centre!

Didn't get a pic with the seals on, but they're now bagged up waiting for the front subframe!

What van is that Steve? Boxer? Apart from the wheel boxes coming out was it okay going in?

Yeh, Peugeot Boxer. Yeh, went in no probs for me! In fact loads of room for the front subframe and other parts to go in too!
