Every day's a school day!

As i'm still scratching my head and slowly cutting bits off the shell, there's no real update to that! However, with an ever growing amount of boxes with spares in them just collecting, it was now time to start building things! First off are the rear trailing arms! I've been wanting to do this for ages, but now finally got all the parts. For those that may remember my debacle over the rear handbrake quadrants? Well I got a new set from the company, first of their upgraded ones to try out! Well I'm really impressed! They fit perfectly!

I wish I could do this when I can't work on the shell, but as my garage is tight i have to put the subframe back on to move the bugger around 😢

I'd love my own home with a garage! The car is still at my folk's house and I work away most of the time. Just lucky I've got this time off before going back to work. My CV's arrived today so degreased, acid etched and painted. They'll be assembled with the rest of the shaft tomorrow hopefully!

A bit of an update. Managed to get the front end panels picked up and now back with the car, but at the start of the bank holiday I was hospitalised with what the doctors thought was potentially kidney failure. Turned out to be an infection so was flushed out and spent more time than normal on the forum.
Dropped off the engine this morning to Rob Walker engineering. I'd heard great things about this man, his character, workshop and results. A really nice guy, really chatty and very friendly, even showed me some of the kit they use. He said I'd receive a phone call in a couple of weeks to pick it up! So that's pretty much all the engine and gearbox being worked on:
Cylinder head - Turbo Phil
Gearbox - Guessworks
Block - Rob Walker

Getting more quotes for the welding so hopefully that can begin again soon!

Ah go on, have a photo!

I have loved reading your updates Steve, and it just goes to show what's lurking underneath! I wish I could do have the things you have done fair play to you. One day I will book mine e in for a complete overhaul but not got the money to pay for it at the moment.
Glad you decided to get rid of the white wheels, can't think of anything worse. I thought at first who would put silver bonnet stripes with a white roof, then reading on it all made more sense to put it back to Silver. Just makes you wonder why the roof was sprayed white? Looking forward to seeing the installments of updates.

I never understood it myself, both the wheels and roof were done with a rattle can by the looks. I'm forever changing my mind on the end colour but think I'm going to stick to solar red!

I already have a budget for the body work, so no issues with getting more engine parts! Have had a few quotes for it and a visit this weekend to get another!

Engine will be a 1293 turbo unit :D

The astute will notice I'm missing the clips from the inner pots, need to order some of them! Or just use long cable ties, which ever really.

Etch primed then several coats of satin black spray. I don't expect them to be bullet proof, however it'll keep the rust at bay for a few years.
