Hi, was looking into buyer a boot carpet liner for my mini to tidy up the boot, but had a few questions first. I have seen some threads previously but couldn't find the detail I was after.

How do they fit into the boot exactly?
It sounds like the panels just sit there?
Are they actually worth the money?
Thanks! These are the ones I was thinking of getting:

Yep they just sit there, I got rid of mine as it made the boot even smaller, I just cut out a bit of plastic (can use plywood) the same shape as the floor above the spare wheel so the boot is all flat.

They do neaten things up a bit, but then they also reduce your already small boot space quite a bit too. If you don't really use your boot all that much, or you more tend to use your rear seat as a make-shift boot, then that's not going to be so much of an issue. If however your mini's a weekend show goer & you therefore need every available inch of space to cram with tools, spares and camping gear etc, then they can be a bit of a pain.

I've just got a sheet of mdf cut to size and covered for mine. One day I'll eventually get round to making up some proper brackets for it, but has been fine so far.

Here's a before and after of mine, another thing I would add is my car being an MPI has the washer bottle in the boot, the boot board makes filling this up very annoying....

i made my own with a hole for access to the washer bottle and a hatch to the battery. In the pictures I had lots of brackets pinning it together, these have now been removed, and the boards stay in place no problem.

This is mine...............a bit rough I admit but I like it. Especially as these bags aren't too readily available.Attached File  20140605_154121.jpg   62.76K   19 downloads

Good afternoon,

A fitting guide can be found on the website here: LINK

Yes, they simply slide into place with a tight fit, the base baord has a support on the right and along the front, and then the left hand side and back sit on the spare wheel - the other boards than fit in and around it.

I have to disagree (sorry haha), the reason why I originally developed the boot liner for my Mini (way back in 2003 and way before Optimise was even a consideration) was because I used my boot regularly and was fed up with everything falling in and around the spare wheel, getting creased (it was often my college work that I kept in the boot) and/or dirty.

The boot liner creates a clean and level environment to put stuff on, yes it's a little smaller - but I think it actually makes the Classic Mini boot more usable, especially if you use the boot on a day to day basis.

Thanks

That looks like one of our kits?

If so, you only need to remove the right hand side panel to gain access to the washer bottle. As the right hand side board sits on top of the base board - so it's not really much to do, removing and then installing the right hand side board only takes a min tops.

As above, the kit was originally developed back in 2003 for my Mini and I had an SPi, so the washer bottle was in the boot - which is why it was designed to have easy access to the washer bottle.

Thanks

Indeed it is one of your kits! Like you say the right hand side is reasonably easy to remove! I'm thinking of just putting a small handle or knob (now now children...) just so removing the panel is even easier!

Other than that nothing but praise from me! Tidy's the boot up nicely!!
