Right, just to let you know tried pump with power, it intermittantent works (pumping noise) however unable to try with petrol. The pumps can be stripped and fettled with however you can have it with the filter regulator free, for 20 pound posted.send me your email and will send pic.

I'm looking to do this in a week or two, can anyone tell me if I need a return line? And has anyone used braided lines if so can you use fitting such as these:http://www.viperperf...separators.html

This isn't the first time I've ever thought about this, and I'm unaware what point I should start at and what fittings I will need to have an electric
Fuel pump and braided lines with the fittings.

Cheers,
Jordan

Added safety of not having the car stolen, more relibility in corners and an easier to replace pump of it goes.
You do risk fuel pumping on a burning car in case of accident, unless you fit à inertia switch

To put another side to that - I went the other way many years ago and have had the same AUF 705 mechanical fuel pump for the last 150,000 faultless miles - and it was 2nd hand when I got it. This replaced a troublesome original AUF 200 electric pump. I appreciate this was lashed to the subframe, not stowed in the boot or mounted on the bulkhead so was more vulnerable than what is being considered here but all the same the original mechanical pumps were good.

My new car has an electric pump, the mechanical pump is still on the engine. It this right, or does it need the blanking plate fitting? Also, where would the inertia valve be, so I can check one was fitted?

My mechanical pump was so noisy, I replaced it this week:

You get that nice, comforting thunka-thunka the SU pumps made when you first switch the ignition on :-)
