So a couple of weeks ago I posted to the technical sections to ask for assistance in solving what was actually a non-problem, but rather me being a complete idiot :\

I had a buckled wheel, which I believed had caused one of the wheel studs on the left front wheel to snap. So I borrowed a 4.5" steelie from one of my friends that had a 145 tyre like the other wheels on my car.  After much struggling I removed the hub and swapped out all four studs, greased everything up, refitted the hub and then fitted the steel wheel. When driving I got massive vibrations under acceleration so asked what could be the problem.

The suggestions were that tracking and balancing were the problem. When I took my car to have them both check, it turned out to be something far more obvious... The tyre pressure for the new wheel I fitted was 1.1bar and that was what was causing the vibrations.

Oh well, anyway now the car is running well :)

So I got some new front tyres for Caesar :)

Doesn't look too good with one steelie, but hopefully that will be rectified soon.

I need to decide on the colour of the steelies still. They originally would have been silver/grey but I'm not sure if that is the best option... only time will tell what colour they'll be :)

Thank you :) Was looking at your mk1 restoration. You've done a great job, looks lovely!

So the mini has gone away for a while. To the bodyshop to sort out rust and a couple of small dents. Also getting the original 1275 E stripes fitted. Quite keen to see what the final result looks like.

So the body shop was able to sort out all the rust and minor dents. Plus they did a fantastic job of fixing the large (and ugly) speaker holes in the rear parcel shelf (Using an old parcel shelf to get the geometry of the ribs and grooves correct) - Pics to follow later.

They did however make a bit of a mess of the stripes (The thick stripe needed to be centred at the door handle.). Happily the owner (who is also a good friend) is such an awesome person that he's going to sort it out :)

After chatting to Simon (via PMs) and a representative from Midland Wheels (who was extremely helpful) (Seriously jealous of the quality of customer service in the UK), I found out what the correct wheel nuts were. A local supplier up in Jo'burg had stock so I ordered a set early this week and they arrived on Thursday. So to make myself feel better about the dodgy looking stripe, I decided to fit them... and I think they look pretty good :)

Just after fitting (Sorry for the crappy picture):

On the mini run today (loads of fun :proud:  )

Awesome looking mini :D

Stripes and wheels look great together!

When is he looking to fix the stripes positioning?

Thanks dude, yeah I think so too. Those were the original stripes for this model as well.

We've ordered new stripes, since the thin stripe under the handle was cut. They should be shipped down in about a week and then they'll be fitted :D
