Hi guys,

I have a question about KAD shock absorbers and here it goes:

If I buy a KAD shock absorbers do I have to buy a spring because in the pic below there is no spring??

And can I use KAD shock absorbers in the front an in the back???

That pic looks to have the original cone fitted so no extra spring would be needed.

They are not shock absorbers they are dampers. In the case of mini suspension the rubber cone acts as the shock absorber.

Althought the bodys are designed (by the looks of it) to accept a spring and work in a coilover arangment, KAD will have done the work to realise its better to use the standard cones and valved the shocks to work optimally this way.

I think I also read before they werent adjustable, which I thought was odd

Looks like Quantum dampers, as per the miglias (which use cones)

Kad to road type quantums which are non adjustable and direct swap over. The ones in the picture are competion special made double adjustable then u need to make custom or buy mondo sport top mounts as there designs to fit ultra low set ups and have the towers of the subframe modified to fit and you still need to use a rubber cone and Hilo

You should do your homework on suspension too, you will always need a spring (or rubber cone spring) it supports the weight of the vehicle and effectively limits the amount of suspension travel.

The dampers look as though they do the lifting actually only control the spring rate.

There are exceptions to the rule (wet suspension for exanple) but nearly all light passenger cars use a spring and a damper.
