The new skin primed and painted before being put onto the frame:

The doors will need alot of aligning but I will leave that until i'm putting the front end on. I haven't welded the skins yet as I'm waiting until they are aligned properly:

Next up was the drivers side rear quarter panel:

Trial fitted:

Paint removed and primed ready to be fitted:

Then welded on and tided up:

Then moved onto the waist rail. Trial fitted:

Primed & painted:

and welded on:

BC3EFCB8-5A03-46C9-9DCC-F8CE68CDF15A_zps

Then the drivers side door. It also needed a new bottom:

Where the original sound deadening had fallen off the skin and melted to the bottom of the frame:

The new bottom welded into place:

Started to clean up the paint and small areas of rust on the outside and inside of the door:

108BD641-0AAF-42AA-A6BD-4C05B4FB916D_zps

While cleaning the door I found some filler hiding this lovely repair from the past:

E0621A34-9BBA-4C0E-9447-A22316FA5F18_zps

It had started to split so I cut it out and started to make a fresh repair:

before fitting the skin:

Next up was fixing some areas in the bulkhead. First was the part of the cross member where the engine steady bracket welds to. It has been badly thinned and repaired in the past so was cut out and a new section welded in.

Then set about fixing another hole in the bulkhead. It still needs more work and the hole drilled out again.

and that is you all back up to date. I have that repair to finish off this week. I am waiting on a full drivers side inner wing to come from Mini Spares this week and I will be fitting that before the front end goes on.

Loving your work Adam.

Very nice

Thanks, This is my first go at anything like this so it is taking a while and being away a uni means I can only really work on it during the summer but hope to have the majority of the bodywork finished by the end of this summer. Looking forward to seeing it in paint!

Here's today's update.

Started working on removing the old drivers side inner wing. I had previously started to do the flitch repair but decided to just change the full inner wing.

Got the most of the old one removed. The strengthening panel for the shock mounting panel needed remade:

Removed the old strengthening panel:

Then the new one:

I then cleaned up and primed the areas around the bulkhead and inside the cross member:

That's all the progress for today. The inner wing is due to be delivered tomorrow so hopefully I can get that nearly ready to be welded on tomorrow.

Yeah Ben's spot on its the uPol Weld #2 and it welds through like normal for me. I'm using a Hobbyweld 5 bottle which is a mix of Argon, CO2 & oxygen which has been perfect for this project.
