Excellent work, what are you using to grind down the welds?

Thanks! I used flap discs that I got from ebay on the grinder, the ones I bought were p40 as far as I can remember. Heres the ebay link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201191699103

Cheers, I've got them, I'll have to try harder to get mine looking like yours

You weren't tempted to put a full inner wing on?

The area behind the shock mount is double thickness

Grind down the bulk with a stone and then finish off with a flap disc making sure the disc stays in contact with only the weld right until it's flush and then tickle the area lightly to blend

I was tempted by a full inner wing but the price put me off and the worst part of the wing was the flitch panel the rest wasn't too bad except behind the shock mounts

As for the shock mount I cut out the two separate pieces of metal and replaced them with one piece of 2mm steel. This should stop the water getting down between the two pieces and rotting this panel out

I think the main issue is the shock mounted wasn't painted before it was put on the car. With salt, water and road dirt it rots

Yea that could be the problem I will make sure to get the car painted with the shock mounts off.

easy enough to paint under there, and paint the shock mounts off the car

Well it's been a long time since this was updated, so here goes...

picking up from the last update started by putting on the passenger sill

F4F1DC74-5707-4080-B73F-C9AE1DE017E5_zps

plug welded to the doorstep:

E208AB79-6396-4C07-9847-A3ACCFA0C647_zps

Then rolled over to plug weld to the floor:

AB052D26-D867-426F-B003-84C4E7F90E39_zps

7BB0E681-4EFC-48B1-9464-82B54A83F7EF_zps

and ground down:

762A44B4-5942-473A-B237-29044CD1618D_zps

693BC77E-9E2F-4B85-AFA9-B1E3FFF6B781_zps

Next thing to change was the boot floor and the rear arches. The old boot floor was completely gone:

A2C52096-3B5F-4770-8845-72A93075E0C0_zps

523C3F21-5315-43FD-A628-DB5787072A7C_zps

8F498C2C-D12A-483E-AFA4-55F5C1057649_zps

Started by roughly cutting out the main area of the boot floor:

6538248A-DDC0-4E63-BF07-8216FA780825_zps

14225F5C-4934-478F-925F-7F897D973083_zps

F726B5E4-90B2-434F-921B-B89E3D77E190_zps

Here's it's replacement Heritage boot floor:

FAE9E51B-5CD4-484E-841C-A68DACB809CF_zps

Since both the rear arches were being replaced as well I decided to weld the arches to the floor to replace as one. I firstly made a jig to get a position for the old rear aches before I cut anything out. Here's them trial fitted:

BDB3E17C-37FE-4C89-9C6E-365356A6DCBC_zps

Then zinc primer applied to the seams:

DA40B13E-CD34-49F4-A808-E19850ED535C_zps

The arch drilled for the plug welds and zinc primer applied:

E4773F25-DE4F-4F93-A3C5-C7D1FA5CAF66_zps

and welded on:

B8EFB9F9-F860-4523-B23B-D665BCAB4C49_zps

Then trial fitted into the floor:

B8EFB9F9-F860-4523-B23B-D665BCAB4C49_zps

and back out again to take back to bare metal where it will be welded and zinc primer applied:

F45CE012-3E1F-4604-89FB-723D1164BBAF_zps

and in for the final time. The rear subframe was put back in to make sure it was in the right place and the jig to check the rear arches were in the right place was used to make sure the floor was in the right place before it was welded.

6CCC69F0-DB88-46F4-83FE-E7509BD8BA80_zps

Welded to the companion bins:

06A92E52-ABA8-404B-AFE3-56427A11C836_zps

The bottom of the back seat was badly rotted. I could have repaired it but decided to replace the rear bulkhead to make things easier:

C352545C-8EE1-455E-B990-2C442E28CC1B_zps

Along with a new set of rear seat belt mountings:

3A984F15-C818-46F9-B19D-6C85DE5F2C8F_zps

Welded the tank captive nut to the rear bulkhead:

3DD85F6E-D82A-4E1F-BFAD-3C9E7FDCE72E_zps

Then welded the seatbelt mountings to the rear bulkhead:

DEB7E58C-A2D2-445D-AC25-36468D896302_zps

While I had room I welded the support brackets to the rear arches:

A8C65A9E-4D40-4E48-9F9C-61AC73CCB35B_zps

Next up was the parcel shelf and top rear seatbelt mounting panels. I'm thinking the rear screen was leaking in the past with the amount of rust in one corner. Someone had also tried to drill out for speakers.

Thanks for your comments guys!

I realised I missed the passenger side rear quarter panel replacement so here it is.

Trial fitting the new Heritage panel:

8F9BA723-C652-4D33-AAC3-7A56EAAAD9D6_zps

Painting in behind before it gets welded:

AD1E108C-0E0D-438A-96AA-5E3314DA4060_zps

32AA097A-D82C-42E7-9516-5ED432E40EF8_zps

Then welded on:

3D7C0490-0A97-4D50-B30A-C434A9BC3B94_zps

1977FDED-CDD3-4731-9A7C-59FDA44ECF62_zps

FF76AAB1-45D6-4B4F-A5C4-BCB76CD4DD90_zps

88B239F8-5DDC-469F-ADE7-D707C1FFB2B0_zps

Then set to work about removing & replacing the toe board. The old one was rotting along the seam with the floor and the rust had been plated over before in the past so the only option was to remove the whole thing and do it properly. I had to do a repair at the bottom of the bulkhead as well as there was a hole starting to form.

276CE9B3-A16C-4223-B52F-65424CC4822B_zps

Probably went slightly overboard with the plug weld holes...

0693F202-0430-42C4-8D49-359E406DAB4B_zps

New panel trial fitted:

2FE76FC0-B8D7-48B8-9909-D6B89D708511_zps

Ended up taking the inside of the lower bulkhead back to bare metal and treating it with deox gel before priming it

E6A39981-DFD3-417E-BCA1-16BA0E983DF3_zps

Then primed the panel before welding

D274C353-6B12-470C-9738-3CFDEC3DB7CC_zps

Also I missed from yesterdays update that I filled in the MPI hole for the fuel pipes in the boot floor. I still have to drill out the holes yet.

27BBE7DE-2CD3-40A4-AAD0-CE298467EB1C_zps

Next on the list was repairing and re-skinning the two doors. Here is the passenger side door taken back to bare metal inside. The bottom was badly pitted so was cut out and replaced:

056A53E9-5CC0-4C86-9348-184057997112_zps

The inside of the door painted and tiger seal applied to the seam along the bottom:
