Not entirely sure yet what style i'm going to go for but i'm leaning towards taking it back to a standard mayfair with a few modifications like alloy wheels etc. The car used to be blue when it was new anyway and someone has resprayed it black at a time and stuck some cooper stickers on it.
It was originally Atlantic Blue. I'd like to take it back to look like this but it would defiantly have to have alloys. Can't stand those wheel trims.

Some progress!
Received the panels that I had ordered from Mini Spares. 2 Genuine rear companion bins and a magnum door step:
Mocked the companion bins up on the floor:
Then welded in the drivers side doorstep:
The fit was so bad on this side that i'm not happy with it and i'm going to buy the heritage doorstep and replace the panel.
So while i'm waiting for that to come I welded the seat belt retaining brackets on the inner sill.
Firstly I took off the e-coat and sprayed with a good coating of weld through primer on the front and back:
Then welded them to the inner sill. This is my first bit of welding as my friend has welded the doorsteps on:
Just waiting now on the doorstep to come so I can get to work on putting that in and welding the floor in.

I fitted 2 of these; they are a good fit and much better than the Magnum ones. Worth the extra money. :)

It looks so much better so far anyway compared to the Magnum ones. I have only bought one in the mean time but if the fit is good I will probably change the passenger side one as well.

Well started on removing the old magnum door step today:
Started off with this:
Chopped it off:
Started drilling out the spot welds on the A post:
Was left with this, the post is in great condition just a few areas of surface rust:
Left it tonight with some deox gel on it to get rid of the rust:

Some more progress!
Got the Heritage doorstep and A post welded in, just have to finish grinding down the welds.
Started off buy cutting part of the rear quarter panel to get access for the doorstep:
Then drilled the holes in the panel for spot welding and primed it with some weld through primer:
Then welded it in place:
That's all the progress for now.

Been a while since the last update,
Today I started to replace the door step on the passenger side
Started off with this:
Cut out the door step and drilled out the spot welds along the a post. Alot more surface rust than the drivers side but nothing serious:
Then wire brushed the surface rust and used deox gel to remove the rust. Left it sitting covered in film untill tomorrow:

I think i will have to do this with my n/s hinge post.
Good work though. Have you got any pictures of it after the deox was washed off but before the primer?
I would be interested to see how well it came up.
Cheers
Ben
