I got it out with a small phillips screwdriver, just put it in the centre and hit with hammer, should come straight out, make sure the end of the screwdriver is smaller than the diameter of the hole. a better alternitave would be the correct sized drift, but I only had a screwdriver and found it worked like a dream

Think its a roll pin, but comes out the same, patience is a virtue. I ground down a small punch and a couple of hammer taps and she came out. Mart.

Put it into reverse as this puts it into a better angle. I then remove the one that connects the sleeve to the gearbox using a pin punch and hammer

This tool (pin punch) works perfectly. Also fit a new roll pin as old ones have a tendency to come loose, fall out resulting in loss of ability to select gears!

I re fit with some copper slip and put a bit of welding wire wrapped through it and round the selector so it can't fall out.

I too use lock wire, but I still put a new one in. In 1900 and frozen to death had one come out and had to drive home in 3rd gear about 10 miles. It was a very rainy night!

The tool does work very well. As Craig89 says select reverse gear, knock pin nearest to the gearbox upwards and straight thru.
