Hate to say it but buyer beware. Also never sell a car to family or friend because they DO go wrong especially something as badly made as our favourite cars were.

As a rule of the thumb in their day a mk1 or2 mini would be an oil leaking rust bucket long before its tenth birthday, sure there were exceptions but when buying put away the rose tinted specs and use your head. Minis were always of a dodgy design and build quality designed to be put together by unskilled labour with hand held spot welders and a panel fit of where it touches. I do love minis but do not ignore the reality of the poor design (from a durability point of view) and build quality

You have a fair point, for the price I paid for mine I was expecting what I got. I would recommend this garage but do have a look at the cars in depth. He left me alone with my car for well over an hour and he fixed the problems I pointed out to a high standard. The mini has never let me down when out on the road. Just be weary of what you buy.

I know I sometimes sound a bit down but was in the trade for too long. Facts must be that firstly you allways hear of the bad blokes about and seldom of the goodies. Secondly even the best trade sellers sell a lemon from time to time but that is not the problem its how it is dealt with that matters. Lastly odds are you could buy a car over the phone nowdays and get a good deal as most of the real crap has gone but with prices rising do the visuals as they are the really expensive bits i.e. rust.
