Yes there were 2 different nuts used for the non-airbag columns. The early one was the big 1&5/16 chap most of us have seen but later there was a 1" AF nut used. Number QYH10007, if you don't use a new one which comes treated with thread lock be sure to use fresh thread lock when you fit it.

It's a mini city 1989.. I'm guessing I have the larger nut as I used a 34mm socket to get it off.. I'll try and get hold of the 1 inch nut to replace this .. it's a mountney boss

I think I have one of the smaller ones. I'll have to double check, if it is then give me your address and I'll get it in the post for you

Is that a Mounteney M range boss? I've never had an issue fitting the nut into a normal Mounteney one, it's good to know that because I was planning to change to an M range wheel.

Yeah is a m range one... It come in 2 parts, the first part goes over spines on the colomb then the wheel nut secures it down ... Second part attatches to the steering wheel but won't get down to be secured to the first part because the nut is too big :/

I had the same problem with an M boss on my Clubby. In my case you could get the big nut on but there wasn't enough extra room to get a socket around the outside and tighten it.

I ended up with the 1" AF nut from Minisport.
