Done a rough drawing on paint.

Wheeltracker.jpg

You place it infront of the wheels, and measure the distance between the two front edges, then place it on the rear of the wheels and measure the distance between the two rear edges.

Using the measurements, you can then get your total toe for the wheels.  Bear in mind that this won't help with setting the fronts up in relation to the rears, but it gives you a good starting point.

Ok. Not had chance to work on the car, but did take some measurements.Track rod ends are approx 82mm long each side (standard i guess)? At the moment with 15mm of thread showing on drivers, and 16mm on passenger side.
Car is on the ground.

The last time i adjusted them to try and correct the issue was some time ago Carlos, so i am unsure on that one.

I have been following this thread, but I'm having some trouble making heads or tails of it.

What is you are actually adjusting / turning to try to achieve adjustment? (hope that makes sence).

Normally, one would;-

Loosen the the small end of the steering gaiter clip (or watch it if a cable tie is fitted and maybe cut it off),

Loosen the lock nut that is locking the Steering Tie Rod End, give it plenty of clearance,

Then turn the Tie Rod Shaft, that come out of the Steering Rack, this winds the thread of it in to or out of the Steering Rod End to make any adjustment.

After finishing any adjustment, lock off the Lock Nut, and check the adjustment, re-tighten the clip on the gaiter (or replace the cable tie)

This is not intended to be degrading if it seems / sounds simple, it's just that I am unsure of your experience and skill level.

Some things that maybe worth checking first are that the steering arm (that bolts to the hub) is tight to the hub and both bolts are in there, aslo that the U bolts that hold the steering rack to the floor are tight, there are 4 nuts on the toeboard for these.

<edit: If all of this is done and still no adjustment is happening, then at a guess I'd say the steering rack is Karput or there's a stripped thread.>

Hi, thanks for the advice regards the travk rods. Yeah i have some skill at most things mini related, so i have already done the above previously as you mentioned.
I will check the arms, and as a not the rack bolts were a bit loose when i first got the car, but now ok.One thing i have noticed it the steering column does seem at a slight angle inside the car going down to where it fits the rack? Cheers Olly

Haven't got a bent tie rod on one side have you? I must admit I'm at a bit of a loss to understand what is happening too, I don't see how you can't get it to wind out far enough but you have not wound it fully off. Have you checked if the TRE will actually wind right off? Maybe there is some funky thread damage.

Ok after another look today, it maybe not as bad as i first thought originally, as one front shock was completely knackered, doing nothing (perhaps making it look worse than it was). That has now been replaced, but will ultimately know once the front arches go back on, seems easier to judge.

…..and the appearance of your steering column slightly cocked is normal…it actually is at a bit of an angle

I took some pics, but you cannot tell from the angle of them.I will try to get another once the arch is fitted back.

Got a couple of pics sorted, but hard to tell.It does not seem as bad with arches fitted, but its still poking outwards on one side more than the other and cannot seem to get it near enough straight like the other side.

Have you got standard mini hubs on this car, I zoomed in on the first pic and can't make out something else there on the hubs, is it an ARB?

I read somewhere, might have been another forum somebody had an odd wheel that had more offset than the others. Looking at the first picture it does look like you can see more of the brake caliper on the passenger side of the car, it could be just the angle of the camera.

Make sure both sides are the same by checking the distance from the bottom ball joint pin to the wheel rim.  If it's different could it be the wheel, hub or upright that is different ? The person with the odd wheel bought it from the manufacturers as a set and one was wrong, it's unlikely but it does seem strange the passenger side wheel seems to sit farther out then the drivers side one.

Not sure if standard hubs,I assume so,as I am still running 2 pot Ap calipers on there.

Steve G,I will do the ball joint measurement, and see if there different.
Also do I need longer track rod ends,as im running hi low's? The current ones are approx 82mm long. Cheers

I tried measuring from the ball joint to the wheel rim which was a bit hard to get correct, depending on the angle of ruler down to rim. But if i got it right, not 100% sure i have, but theres about 5mm difference one side to other

Managed to change the TR Ends today for the longer type, and also replaced one of the steering rack rubbers that was split.I measured them so they were equal each side, but i guess this does not work as the passenger side is now well out. Will be adjusting it when i get chance.

Couple of pics, nothing seems out or bent.
