Hi All,

Am looking at getting the 123 Ignition Dizzy, however the question (with potentially an obvious answer) is do I need the Vac one or not?!

It will be for road use on a 1275 stage 1 modified A+, which may have also had a cam change although I have not been able to check this yet. The current dizzy, the Lucas factory electronic dizzy, does have vac advance and it is currently connected, although Im not convinced its working as it should!

Thanks in advance! (no pun intended :-p)

Vacuum advance is primarily for part-throttle cruising fuel economy.  Since you said this car will be for road use, get the distributor with vacuum advance.

Well I went for the non vac on my Aldon Yellow, as every time ive been on the rollers (about 9-10 times now), if the car had one it was taken off (advice of the operator).

Still get good economy, late 30ish mpg with a 286ish cam when crusing :)

Could I suggest you consider the CSI? and if it's a road going car with an SU, one with Vacuum Advance.

The 123 are very well made for sure however I've found the available curves pre-programmed not ideal for an A Series Engine.

Ohh eck another layer of confusion! Must admit I've not herd of the CSI, although have just had a very quick look on minispares and it seems a similar product. Can you give me a bit of info on your experiences with the two, ease of fitting, how they are in use etc?

General consensus is to go with the vac then! Thanks all :)

Would you recommend the 123 based on your time with it?
