The sound of the carbs is incredible!
Do you have straight cut gears or is it the normal whine? Can't remember my '90 mini... But maybe due to other parts the older are noisier more lovely?
Can't wait to start one of mine!!

The whine you can hear in the video is courtesy of straight cut drop gears; the close ratio gearset in this gearbox is actually helical, but funnily enough my last engine + box was the opposite way round with helical drops and a straight cut gearset. This newer setup is much louder by comparison, as it's the drop gears in particular which really give you the noise! I did consider the idea of trying to build up a fully straight cut setup by combining bits from the old gearbox and the new one, but decided against this in the end.

Just uploaded a video to YouTube - it mostly covers the process of doing an oil change which I'm sure most of you are very familiar with, but I also do a bit of a walkaround of the car, and show the new grille fitted at the end too.

Well done for getting it fixed ready for Beaulieu, but did you find out what caused the bolt to come loose?

It's possible that the bolt was fitted without a locking tab which is my leading hypothesis - it's hard to know for sure though because if it did have one, it would've almost certainly fallen down onto the road somewhere while I was driving. Alternatively it just might not have been torqued up to the correct spec.
