Hi Guys, i have searched with many mixed answers.

but im looking at this kit http://www.minispare...TR641.aspx|Back to to replace all of my very tired rubber mounts.

My Mini is not a daily driver but will this make it really harsh and cause cracking/damage to the body?

Thanks

It will certainly harshen things up but at the same time the car will feel more set up so to speak.

Now if your car is a later rubber mounted type then you will have issues with the toeboard mount area so worth reinforcing with some thicker steel. Check the state of your inner swings especially around the cutouts for the subframe tower.

Did not the later ones still have the same reinforcement as the early ones?

More noise in the cab.

But things should feel more placed.

Consider early Minis had solid mounted front subframes but the rears were still rubber mounted.

The later cars had a different toeboard, 76 onwards.

Don't do it if you solid mount the frame they crack the body around the kick board

Earlier Minis had one bolt in the diagonal portion of the toe board and one in the horizontal portion at the joint with the floor pan. This helped distribute the load through the floor rather than in the toe board.

I made some pretty big spreader plates for my estate out of 2.5MM mild steel. The picture is from before I welded them in and drilled the mounting holes.

You don't even need something that big, just a plate to take the stress off the immediate area around the bolt head, and if it's an old shell ie, 1970's the you don't really need anything at all because the metal is thick enough already.

Not a phrase commonly seen on a classic mini forum :-)
