I have seen a few threads covering this but thought I would start one. Would just like to see peoples ideas and what you have done in order to make your mini more practical for daily use?

Some of the things I have done:

More soundproofing

Aeroquip Wiper Blades - Massive difference!

Halogen Lights

Interior footwell light

Electronic Ignition

What else have you guys done?

All good ideas.

Also new cones and dampers and the use of max 5" wide wheels and the taller wall available help a lot regarding driving comfort

Some modern seats like those fitted to mpi minis should me more comfy, thats subjective though, personally i never liked them and i feel more confortable on old type seats.

The list I've done.

Extra sound proofing in the way of flashing tape and carpet underlay.

Black hook type wiper arms and proper blades, bought for peanuts years ago when everyone went made for the rubbish chrome tat.

Halogen headlamps, brighter bulbs and extra relays as to not fry the original unfused wiring.

Electronic ignition, pretty much been a fit and forget with no more points to mess with.

Electronic flasher relays for the indicators and hazards, so they flash like a modern car and not lazy like the originals.

A larger 45amp (standard is 35amp) battery witch makes starting a lot easier.

Headunit and a pair of 6x9's under the rear seats, as with the extra sound proofing you can actually hear it.

And a cigarette lighter socket for the sat nav and phone charger.

All such good ideas! Just put a stereo back in mine with two 6x9s under the seat, can hear it now I've soundproofed :)

Another thing I've started doing is sorting out little rattles and such, makes a massive difference

Since hook type wipers are going for sily money, might help saying that you can buy land rover wiper arms and use them with proper blades, highly reccomendable.

All the above including remote locking.  A heater fan with a lot more blow would be a useful addition now that the winter damp is in, any ideas on that front anyone?

have started bits on mine.

Put the fresh air vents back in
Remote central locking to go in
Intermittent wiper controller to go in
Replaced the crap chrome wipers a previous owner put on with proper ones
Brighter headlight bulbs
I'm tall and the headrests in the mpi seats are too low so taller modern seats
DAB and iPod radio in

Drove in the dark for the first time last night and realised she needs
Some way of lighting the switch panel
Better instrument lighting
Working on a cup holder as I don't want a centre console

Been looking at remote locking aswell recently, would be handy :)
Switch panel lighting is also on the todo list once I have my new switches in and going to upgrade all the illumination once I convert to centre clock
Heater is great now I have replaced and flushed the system! It gets way too hot!
I also want to put a boot light in at some point.

I'm trying to produce a retro look to the mini however modernising it at the same time :')

You can use leds for better illumination on instruments, interior lamp etc

Two two speed heater from mpi minis could be a nice addition, also make sure the pipes to the vents are well insulated , so you wont loose warm air from leaks in the venting circuit

Some where to put your phone, and somewhere to put your coffee...

That's all you need

Looking at putting my head unit in one of those under the dash brackets.
Then getting a single din cup holder thingy from eBay to fit the stereo slot on the walnut dash.

I've put daytime running lights on my clubby front, I've also done little bits and bobs to try keep the same look but with a modern touch...
