Minimania sells an adaptor to use a pin drive oil pump with this spiderdrive shaft.

Spider drive

That drive camshaft is something known as 'Dog Drive'.

You have to use an adaptor piece for your oil pump to drive this type of camshaft. You can get both slot and spider drive adaptors to fit the dog drive camshaft.

First time I've heard it called that. Must have funny looking dogs in Norfolk, 'cause it looks a shed load more like a spider (squints).

First picture you quote is a Pin drive cam to spider adaptor. Back to the Vizard book me'lad.

After re-searching the adaptor on google, it's called a 'drive dog' for an oil pump, not a 'dog drive' camshaft, my bad.

Also, this is a pin drive camshaft, I have one in my engine haha (the one on the left)

I don't know if they are commercially available, but I have made a few.

In regards to the Spider Drive Cams, I don't waste my time with those adaptors, just drill the Cam and fit a Pin - Pin Drive!

Can you expand on how one would just drill the cam? I have an auto 1275 block for my Elf with a spider drive cam. I've drilled the oil passage, and made the pump adaptor plate (spacer). A local shop (Schneider cams) is doing a mild street grind on the cam. It looks like my only option is a $30 adaptor from MiniMania.

Thanks,

Brian

The pin drive cam is drilled across the bearing and a hardened drive pin pressed in place. I can't embed the photos on my phone for some reason...

And this is the pin drive pump...

Although you're unlikely to have problems if done correctly, they are considered weaker than the later spade drive.

I've only briefly read up on the auto to manual conversion; You may run into complications!

Thanks Phil.  That was what I was picturing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  I've checked out what I can online, and I bought the core from a guy who has done it a few times before. He seemed to think it will work.  Time will tell.

Thanks,

Brian
