Hi TMF,

I'd like to introduce something I've been working on for a long time that's now available to buy.

I've always liked the idea of supercharging but wasn't too impressed with the 'suck through' kits that are currently available. A few years back Slark Race Engineering started to create a blow through kit, but that fell through and disappeared without a trace. So I decided to develop my own solution and, after 18 months of trial and error, here it is.

Podifold (POsitive DIsplacement maniFOLD) is a cast aluminium manifold that allows you to install a blow through system without any bodywork modifications or alterations to the existing ancillaries. It's designed around the commonly available Eaton M45 supercharger and the Metro turbo HIF44 carburettor and plenum chamber.

I'm posting this here now to see what you all think, answer any questions and even take on any suggestions you might have. Although it's available for sale now I understand people will be cautious about buying one until it's been tested and proven to work. My own engine is fully built and will be fitted and dyno'ed in around 6-8 weeks time.

There's more information on the website with installation instructions and diagrams to come: http://www.podifold.com

You can read my own build thread here: http://www.podifold.minipickup.org/

There's also my Instagram feed with lots more development pictures of the manifold: http://www.instagram.com/podifold

podifold_600px_03.jpg

Final selling price will be £550 for the manifold with vacuum take-offs and a fitting kit available as extras.

For any TMF+ members crazy enough to buy one before I've run mine I'll offer a special 10% discount off the manifold price. That's £495 valid up until the day I put mine on a rolling road.

Please note that I won't be keeping any stock of these. Each one will be made to order and will need up to 28 days to allow for casting, cleaning, machining and delivery.

Jon.

I think it needs to be dyno and road proven before people will start to buy

Thanks guys.

I totally agree Gr4h4m. I can't wait to see how it performs.

Also a shame about the 998 fitting? I would guess there are a load of small bore owners who are looking for boost in performance. I know that's why I went that way.

Looks a neat install too.

That looks very good indeed.

I'm certainly interested in the dyno testing etc.

I like the idea of this. Especially a product that has had thought rather than thrown together to try and work. On your website you've got it connected to what looks like an MPI engine? Which throttle body are you using for that?

Regards

I'm very intrigued to see how this does on the dyno, I love seeing how other people have engineered things that actually work

Thanks for all the positive comments so far.

Also a shame about the 998 fitting? I would guess there are a load of small bore owners who are looking for boost in performance. I know that's why I went that way.

The issue with 998 engines is that the blocks are 3/8" shorter which makes the manifold foul on the engine steady bracket that sticks out underneath the master cylinders. It wouldn't be completely impossible to fit to one though. This picture shows an earlier trial fit on my own 998 engine, the difference being that I have the miglia solid top subframe bolt spacers that move the engine and subframe up 7mm closer to the shell:

I chose the MPI block and cylinder head for my own engine because the higher alternator position meant I could fit a bigger intercooler directly behind the grille. The throttle body is a fuel injected one from Specialist Components.

This looks awesome i may have to purchase one when funds allow.  My only concern is there enough of a 'lip' to fit a pipe tightly on that charger outlet? I wouldn't want boost pipe popping off.

That shouldn't be a problem at all. There's more of a 'lip' on this than there is on your average alloy silicone hose connector:

The fuel injection is going to be an interesting concept. I would doubt many of your possible customers will go that route at first due to the extra cost. If it was me I would build and test based on your highest mass market potential.

Looks much better in that picture thanks :-). When's it hitting the dyno?
