Help Please - Mpi Won't Start - Just Fast Clicking Noise.

Best Answer robminibcy , 18 October 2014 - 11:53 AM

The general security features will slowly drain the battery over time yes but if everythings working properly if should take a bit more than a week and a half. Id check the condition of the battery first then if its ok check for drains which indicates something is pulling more power through than it should. I'm not sure what an acceptable drain figure is but om sure google does! Then if you don't use the car often I consider getting a trickle charger. I use a solar panel on mine but if yours is garages I'm not sure how helpful it would be! Go to the full post

Hi, my 1999 MPI won't start. It fired up fine about a week and a half ago and has been in my garage since so not wet. The immobiliser light goes out so it's not that, it has fuel in but just clicks at a fast rate when I turn the ignition, with no hint of firing... I'm quite new to the forum and not that technical but would really appreciate some help!! Thanks.

Yep - flat battery it was. Thanks guys! I suppose it's the immobiliser that drains the battery? Presume I just need to ensure it's off when the car's garaged...?

Might be worth installing a battery cut off switch like this http://www.ebay.co.u...ff14=108&ff19=0

or a dash type switch :)
