Oz, I remember your OAP workshop at Downsview Garage and often listening to your technical advice and discussions with Steve at the Epsom Car Care workshop as he prepared his Se7en or Miglia in the evenings for the next weekends race. Happy days.
Oz....I found some of my old photos at Downsview!

Great pics. It seems a long time ago!
Mate of mine has the workshops now, so still go down there. Unfortunately he's more into VWs than Minis..

Great pics Martin.
I started at Avonbar in 1987 just as Ian was finishing Metro Challange and moving onto Honda CRX championship.
Just on a Metro theme I ran Steve Palmer in British and European Rallycross Championship in '90/'91/'92. Fantastic times.
Just remind me how much of this is off a Mini metro?
Roof and??
That Car always looked better in the Panasonic colours.

I am still sorting through my photo's to scan and came across these of a 6R4 we ran at a jolly day at Mallory Park, circa 1989.
They really are something, it was on the rev limiter in 5th three times a lap !!
I feel very lucky to have been taken out for a few laps in it, the most impressive part for me was up to and out of the hairpin, hanging in the belts on the brakes all the way down to 1st gear and then punching tail out all the way up the box to Devils Elbow, grabbing 5th half way round the bend, the car lurching across the track towards the barrier on the exit, onto the rev limiter again towards Gerrards and David balancing it on the throttle all the way round, awesome !!!

"Austin Rover promotional video from the 1983 MG Metro Challenge, taken from VHS so not brilliant quality but well worth a look."

1986 MG Metro Challenge
"Austin Rover promotional video from the 1986 MG Metro Challenge taken from VHS so not brilliant quality, also the Phoenix Park clips are jumbled up, Qualifying mixed in with the race, most of the trips down the escape road were in qualifying as was the collision between Dave Loudoun and Billy Coleman, Dave was not too impressed with Billy using him as a brake !!!"

Did you know that the Metros raced on the old Nürburgring, i.e. not the complete old Ring as the Start/Finish-area was already demolished to make space for the new GP-Track. A short-cut was quickly built with a very provisional pitlane.
The MGs supported the Nürburgring round of the ETCC in 1983.

There was a Metro challenge car for sale in St Ives in the last couple of months.
I wonder what happened to it, i was trying to convince the wife it was a good buy.
