Thickness doesn't seem to be an issue - if I put it in back to front the holes line up and it sits horizontal in the tunnel. Just the arrow is pointing against rather than with the flow.

i WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER.
Maybe it is wrongly welded or marked? My new cat has no such arrow !?
Be careful when you drive. One hit against the cat and the ceramic honeycomb has gone and you blow only particles in the muffler.

All sorted now
The supplier contacted manufacturer - this particular cat can be reversed (although some cannot) - I think they only put an arrow on so that they only have to print oneversion of the installation manual for all of their cats.

Best thing to do is put a Cat replacement pipe in. Then stick the cat back on before next years MOT! ;)

Here is a typical Mini SPI catalyzer which fits. I have this one mounted with no problems.
