Hey,

When I fitted my flipfront, I removed the inner wings. This means I haven't got the Aux. Fan anymore, and with this hot weather my poor mini is sweating a bit!!

I'm going to have a go at fitting it again tommorow, but just wondered if it's got to be very close to the radiator. I'm going to attach it to the brace bar somehow, but just need to know if it's best to have at closer? If it's best to have it closer I may try and mount it on the actually radiator surround.

by the way I know all about it pulling air out of engine bay, into wing etc.

Cheers,

the closer you get, the more efficient it is.

If the fan is pulling air through the radiator, the radiator must be boxed, so the air cannot short circuit and has to go through the radiator :xxx:

you can buy fans that fix to the rad itself. the fixings post throught the core of the rad and the fan ends up finishing tight up next to the core

kenlowe fitting kits is what you're looking for. I've also found that you can use a selection of washers and tie wraps! :w00t:

Fit a washer on the outside of the fan bracket, stick a tie wrap through that from the outside and through the radiator. slip a washer over that, and then another tiewrap on that to "lock" it in place. then trim the excess.

Funnily enough....I've bodged mine kind of similar.

Long stud from brace-bar, an L-shaped bracket attached to the radiator housing, and a bit of string wrapped around the top hose just to make sure!!! :w00t:

How would one go about fitting one to a mini that’s pre lecy fan?

And what would I need? Have a rough idea in my head but not sure,

Hoping it cold be switch manually and will help it run cooler during the summer, well that’s once the suspensions back together and the rads back in.

easily enough. you just run a line from a fused circuit (or a new one with an inline fuse) via a switch, and to to one side of the fan, then ground the other. hit the switch, fan works! :w00t: You can also get thermo kits from kenlowe that do the same thing but have a thermo in the system that you put inside the top hose.

i have been thinking of doing this too but was unsure looking at the fan which way it pushed the air... so am i right in thinking as mentioned above that the belt driven fan pushes are through the rad and the aux fan has to suck it through?

thanks lee

other way around...

on a std Mini, the fan Sucks the hot air, onto the enigne....
on a Aux fan, it blow the hot air onto the enigne....

Reason it pushes/sucks air onto the hot engine... is theres no point in sucking/blowing hot air from the enigne though a hot rad...
