Nick, I just had a look on the Polestar site - they seem good value. Would their ECU's be suitable for an MPI mini if my modifications end up going beyond the limit of the MEMS system? I've previously discounted changing the ECU as it looked like a very expensive affair using some of the big brands.

I think I'll be ok with my current spec, but depending how much I eat into my budget I may look at a replacement head and other options further down the line.

seriously your best bet is to mail Neil, but I would say yes as it odes mention the Mini injection as being ok with it. also this was developed with the A series in mind from the start and has then been expanded to add other engines as needed. please note the prices shown are not current.

Gotcha, thanks. Yes, I will drop them a line to discuss if I get beyond the limits of the MEMS.

I'm surprised I haven't heard of them before, when you look at what people spend with SC and the like. Thanks for sharing.

right today has been fun.

first remove the old brackets that the amp and coil were on.

zar3yge.jpg

then find a suitable plate to mount the new coil pack on and making it less checker-plate and mount.

vMWFHS2.jpg

then onto the timing wheel and sensor mount.

as my timing cover was an A series which had a indicator added by me that needed adjusting. before i could get the wheel on. also what ever they coat them in meant it was an interference fit so take the centre back to metal and all fits.

L40iXE5.jpg

then the sensor  mount. not fitting.it seems the bolts that are supplied are for the A+ where the 5/16 bolt they use is actually drilled through on those casings.

the bolt bottoms out on mine.

second time i have come across kit supplied that is not correct or does not provide info on what it fits or have any info with it as per fitting info or have fitting info on there pages.

what they need to understand is if we don't know how it is meant to be fitted then we will complain when it does not. end Rant.

roll on tomorrow.

so. web sites read and it seems that what was sent does not match the website description. bolt length wrong and 2 washers missing.

2" bolt swapped out for a 1 3/4" one and thread locked in place.

4LNLq9l.jpg

TDC worked out and marked tooth removed damper re fitted just need to torque the bolt down later.

access was not good so i had to pop the rad out. still best done on an engine out.
