I made my own captive nuts, by welding the original nuts on :P

I'm going to do the same next time!

 

That is the best thing to do.

Another tip is to make the holes in the sub-frame slightly larger, say 3/8", to make lining up the mounts easier. Then just use slightly larger washers under the bolt heads. Engine position is not critical to +/- a couple of mm.

I notice that everyone who has had Minis for a while assumes there will be a next time for changing the engine mounts!

I like your idea of enlarging the holes a little, thanks Cooperman.

I just done mu engine mounts pretty easy to be honest :)

I did my mounts a couple of months ago. Was challenging, frustrating but I would say it was not difficult, just awkward and different for each one. Remember that the drivers side was the hardest. But I did manage it all n an afternoon and this on a MPI.
