I now have another problem.

I can't get parts for my turbo...

Most have the Garrett turbo but mine has to have the poxy borg-warner turbo which rebuild kits don't seem to be available for.. bummer

The do a CHRA cartridge for it but it's £200!

Thinking about buying a worn out garrett i found on ebay for £25 and then rebuild that instead.

Might call the breakers yard tomorrow too and see what they have but the breakers yards on this island are rubbish

Get a great big Merc sprinter one and bolt that on.

Alternatively, give Bobbing Breakers a shout and see what they've got

I wonder what the scope would be for compatible Turbos? Would love to take the chance to bolt on a bigger one! Hopefully one that is more common for parts etc.

I will ring Bobbing when making my enquiries tomorrow mate.

Cheers

Ben

It might confuse the ECU mate.

Find out what other cars use the same engine and turbo.

If I end up going to Bobbing and taking a turbo off, then so be it

No mate, all the bits in the links are for wither the later cars or the garrett turbos.

I have found a company on the isle of wight that refurbish turbos and have put a quote request in. I bet it will be dear but no harm asking

cheers

Ben

yeah, something..

defiantly not a laugh!

Problem is you need to get under the car and in through the bonnet at all times so its awkward to say the least!

I had a board resting on the engine mount and front panel to kneel on when working through the bonnet!

Bloody thing!

See what they've got anyway.

If it's just the turbo then a front end smashed one may be alright they may have an engine out that I can take one off

Apparently it is straightforward.. We shall see

He said i need to dismantle the turbo carefully because his kit is universal between all K03 and K04 turbos, some o rings etc may be different but the journal bearings and piston rings will fit 100%.

It is actually listed as being for Ford / BMW / VW / Audi but he assures me it is the right kit.

It's all ordered now along with a new MAP sensor so keeping fingers crossed that this cures the trouble!
