When i took the knackard injector out, the end of it was dry and rusty.

I'm thinking of paying a garage to just take a look and see what it is. There is a very good one nearby that may do the testing for me. Ill ring them tomorrow.

Cheers

Ben

You put the new injector in?

Where does the cut and run point come? It could cost a fair bit to get to the bottom of the problem :-(

it has helped a great deal. It now revs smoothly and drives alot better but only when you get it past 1500rpm.

Before that, its rough and uneven

A bit of a dumb question but..... Is the exhaust blowing? The smoke looks like exhaust fumes under the bonnet in the vid. As for the chugging, Im not really sure, perhaps all of the injectors need cleaning/replacing?

Hoep the garage are able to help.

Cheers

Yes mate, the exhaust has a leak which can be seen from underneath the car with it running. You can see the smoke puffing out of the exhaust beneath the turbo.

I have been advised to take it for a blast and see if that helps so i will try that.

It's weird though because the previous owner said it was fine and then all of a sudden went bad right before it came off the road. It was only off the road less than 2 weeks before i bought it.

Really need it sorted in the next few days as i am car less now and am going to need a car to get to job interviews, the busses are rubbish round here!

Someone on the Renault forum told me early on that the way that the engine shakes around points to a problem with no1 cylinder which ironically is the one that had the dead injector. Perhaps there is more than meets eye with it?

hoping it's sometime cheap & easy

but that is quite a heavy induction noise

how hard is it to get the cam cover off , to check one of the valves aren't stuck ?

Cam cover is easily accessible.

I have just been wrestling to remove the turbo, inlet and exhaust manifold etc. Still not off but nearly.

More tomorrow.....

Ben

also, since taking it out this morning for a short drive, i now have oil in the induction pipes and running off the bottom of the turbo, hence why i am removing it.

It has been suggested that the oil return pipe for the turbo may be blocked so i need to get the turbo off to remove and check it.

The other reason for removing all this is that there is a section of exhaust that comes off the turbo and joins to the first section of exhaust/cat and it has a hole in it which is where all the smoke under the bonnet is coming from so i plan to weld it up once i can get the  :xxx: off
