It's going for its MOT on Thursday. First one in my ownership.

I'm not too worried as it's only done 2200 miles since it's last one.

I'm a bit concerned about one of the tyres though.

any opinions?

I'm bugged to hell by the washer jets. They adjust up fine and work well and then after a few days (or sometimes a few minutes) they just go wrong with one spraying a piddly amount at the scuttle and the other shooting over the roof. And its the second set i have had in it since going on the road.

grrrrr

Cheers

Ben

Dirt in the washer bottle?

Is it always the same one?

Whilst it was standing mould could've been growing in the pipes and bottle, it's now travelling along blocking the jets

Ill get it through it's ticket and then strip it all out and scrub it all up.

It just gets to the point where i can't be bothered to keep doing it so i leave it and then end up with a really smeary window where i can't get enough water on it.

Any idea on the tyre?

The tyre looks fine (seen much worse pass) providing the rest is free from defects.

As for the washers, I'm sure I've heard and old wife's tale of running some diluted white vinegar through the washer bottle and pipe work to clean them out.

cheers guys.

I'm going to check over the mechanicals today. Ill just take each wheel off in turn and make sure there is nothing obvious and then take it down and see what happens.

The only advisory last time was a light misting of oil on the front leg but it looks new so i expect it was replaced. The previous owner was like that...

I have a pile of receipt's for work, half of which was carried out just after an mot where the work done was mot advisories :-)

As for the washer jets/fluid, I just use normal vinegar in my mix when I fill upas it helps to prevent horrendous smearing. Good luck with the MOT.

Yup it passed :-)

Well actually it failed on a buckle on one of the alloy wheels but i got it sorted straight away and it passed no problems about half hour later.

All is going well with it although i do need to get the front wheels balanced as there is a shake through the steering wheel at about 70.

As for the washer jets....They are still useless. Ill crack out the Vinegar

I have done almost 3000 miles since the swap and it's as good as it was right after the swap.

I am still having trouble sometimes with reverse crunching sometimes but can't complain really.

I'm glad i did the swap now, It was easy to do, didn't take long and worked out very cheap.

The whole car owes me less than £300 and that includes the new MOT.

Cheers

Ben

The trouble begins.....

Went out there just not to pop to the shop, started it up, stuck it in gear and went to pull away and it just shook itself violently and stalled.

Tried again and again and everytime the same thing.

Finally, i took it up to about 3k before coming up of the clutch and although it still shook violently, it managed to pull away. It did the same when i came up of the clutch after changing into 2nd.

3rd 4th and 5th were perfect and it drove no problem but everytime i stopped in traffic or at junctions, the same happened again.

The best way i can describe it is like trying to pull away from a standstill in 4th gear.

Now, i stuck some Diesel in it as it was a bit low thinking that might be it and on the way home, it behaved itself with no shaking.

it has been torrential rain here today so i wonder if it could be the damp perhaps. It had been standing all night and all day and was fine yesterday evening.

Should i be worried?
