Its a metal rod coated with some sort of brittle grey stuff. The grey coating breaks up when you bend the rod.

 

No idea what it is.

 

Just tried to take up some of the slack in the clutch cable in an effort to try and stop the crunching in reverse. I added a spacer but it actually made it worse!

 

I don't know what to do about it

Yeh try lighting it. What's the worst that can happens. Post proof too.

It might fix your clutch.

It might will definitely fix your clutch.

 

Light it quick! Use it like a wand for maximum clutch improvement!
