Washed it today and ended up with a pond in the passenger front footwell.
Quickly found the source though. It was running out of the pollen filter casing under the dash. There are drain holes on the bulkhead by the turrets and the inlet for the blower is about an inch above where water settles under the scuttle so it's overflowing and running down.
Could cause a few problems if lots of water gets sucked into the blower
Only problem is, the bloody scuttle has to come off again to fix it!
Arrgghh

So there's some really narrow pipes which water is meant to drain away off the bulkhead through and these are blocked?

Must be mate.
I would have thought so anyway! I can't recall seeing anything but then again, i wasn't looking. Ill just have to take it all apart again and find out

A bit of welding wire down them maybe?

I have a length of welding rod i'm going to try.
If not, i have a load of net curtain wire off cuts that might do

Well i'm pleased i tended to that!
Here is the area in question (with the scuttle removed)
And this is where stupid Renault decided to put the fan
Yup, right under the scuttle in full traffic of water.
I took the strut top cover off and found this
Lovely.
The cover was broken, i guess some butcher has had it off in the past and broke the lugs off. Luckily i still have the donor car so i grabbed one off that.
And here is the blockage
At least it was easy to spot.
So i cleaned and dried everything off and run a few litres of water through to check and all is now well.
So back on with the cover, trough and other bits
I checked the other side while i was at it. Although it wasn't blocked, there was quite a bit of crap in there so i cleaned it for good measure. I also removed the strut cover and it was bone dry in there.
And all back together
Another job jobbed!

Anyone for a dip?!
My 106 used to fill the driver side foot well. Incredibly annoying!

500 miles on and it's still going well.
I fitted a set of genuine mudflaps as i was fed up with the sides of the car and the corners of the rear bumper getting plastered in mud and spray.
Whilst i was under the car at the back screwing the mudflaps on, i shook the backbox with my hand as i had noticed a knocking noise when going round tight right hand corners.
Turns out the clamp holding the centre section to the cat had come completely loose and was flopping around all over the place. It's all sorted now and i also worked out why it had come loose. Easy mistake i guess.
Next plans are to do an oil change and filter, fuel filter, air filter and replace the coolant.
I'm also considering tidying up the bodywork and perhaps having the rear windows tinted to keep it cooler inside. make me look like a gangster
Time will tell.
Cheers
Ben

Well the electrical gremlins have started already!
Went out shopping, came out and started the engine and the display for the clock/radio/outside temp has stopped lighting up
I thought it must be a bulb but i also noticed that the radio buttons (which usually light up with the ign on but the headlights off) now don't either. Although they do light up as normal when the headlights are on??
It's probably going to be a right headache if it's not bulbs but i did discover one thing and thats to get to the display, you need to remove the tweeter grilles either side of the top of the dashboard and then unscrew 2 torx screws and then the WHOLE top of the dashboard comes off in one piece This is great news because i have an annoying buzzing/rattle when driving along and it stops when you put your hand on top of the dash so i guess i can just take the top off and find out what the hell is buzzing at last!
Ill let you know how i get on later.

Right it's all sorted. Wasa bit of a strange one though.
So to get the dash top off, i had to remove this speaker grille either side
And then unscrew this screw
And then pull the top off
Excellent access to everything though!
I took out the display module thing
And yes, both bulbs had blown which was odd. One yes, but two??
Anyway replaced them with good ones from the donor car and it still didn't work
Anyway, i pulled the fuse door off and removed the relevant fuse
Looks good to me but i put it back in and it still didn't work. So i put in a new fuse and as i did, i heard a beep from behind the dash somewhere.
I turned on the ignition and it only bloody works...
So i don't really understand why it just stops working and the fix is a new fuse and 2 new bulbs....
Weird.
Anyway, back together and sorted for now

Did you find the rattle?
Funny you should ask that.
I don't know what it is or why it was in there but it was resting on insulation with one end touching on a plastic frame under the dashboard so i'm guessing that was causing it.
I have no idea how it got in there as there is no way it could have fallen in or slipped under something.
whether or not it has solved the buzzing, i don't know as i've not been back out in it since.
